Our visit started off poorly at the IKEA restaurant. Tables were not cleaned, and many customers did not return their trays or food to the correct place, which made the dining area messy and unpleasant. Despite it only being around 6:30 pm, there was very limited food available, with several menu items unavailable. The situation was not handled professionally. Staff were openly laughing about having burned the garlic toast. The food was also on the saltier side too. We then participated in IKEA’s Safari Scavenger Hunt with our child and completed it as instructed. What should have been a simple, kid-friendly experience turned into an exhausting and infuriating runaround. After finishing the scavenger hunt, we searched the children’s area for a staff member. No one was there. I went downstairs to checkout to ask for help and was told to go back upstairs. Upstairs, I found no one again. I went back downstairs and asked another staff member, who had absolutely no idea what I was talking about and offered zero help. I returned to checkout and asked a male staff member in yellow, who then sent me to the upstairs restaurant cashier. The cashier was rude and dismissive and essentially scolded me, saying he “did not deal with that” instead of offering any guidance. Back downstairs again, I asked another female staff member, who directed me once again back to the same male staff member in yellow. At this point, I was being sent in circles by multiple employees who either did not know, did not care, or did not want to help. I eventually had to raise my voice just to get someone to pay attention. Only then did the male staff member finally hand me a chocolate bar as the prize. This was poorly organized, poorly communicated, and completely unfair to families who took the time to participate. If staff are not trained or informed about these events, IKEA should not be advertising them. What should have been a fun experience for kids turned into a stressful, frustrating ordeal for parents. Extremely disappointed.
Please properly train your loss prevention staff! Came here with my spouse and child on 11/19/2025 to purchase a few needed items for our home. Had a decent shopping experience and went through the self checkout and spent around 10 minutes taking some pictures of entrance Hej! sign with family and using restrooms near main entrance right before leaving. Right as we were going out the door, a young man with no IKEA uniform or name tag, wearing a florescent vest stepped right up to me, and asked, “ Did you pay for those items? I was really shocked at the choice of words that more or less translate to, are you a thief? No greeting or anything. I produced my receipt and suggested he look through the cart and see for himself by itemizing with receipt. Instead of doing that he choose to point at the date on the bottom of the receipt and said I was showing him receipt from 2019. At this point I was getting pretty frustrated, and asked that we go speak with a manager and verify with self checkout attendant that we had, indeed paid. We proceeded to self checkout attendant who verified that we just paid, and waited a some time for manager to arrive. The manager Yeng did not do a great job of dealing with the situation either, he started talking with the young man working loss prevention first before addressing our complaint. Yeng was somewhat apologetic and just stated, we are open to feedback… I have been an IKEA family member since 2014 spent a lot of money there, in fact my home is almost entirely furnished with IKEA products. I might have to rethink that if I'm going to get treated like a thief, while shopping at your stores. I don't mind producing a receipt at door, lots of stores like Wal Mart do this, but employees don't insinuate with unprofessional language as to whether I paid for items or not, or become aggressive, they just ask to see receipt. Also please train your employees how to read your own store receipts, the date is in a different sequence order certain areas of printed receipt and could confuse an untrained and uneducated person. I’d suggest you hire mature older loss prevention/security people that have a little tact and discretion, not some kid right out of high school with no life experience. Furthermore, I’d expect Sacramento IKEA store security to be dealing with all the homeless people hanging out by the door, digging through trash, coming in and stinking up the bathrooms, and just making it a miserable shopping experience for paying customers, instead of harassing a middle aged dad and his family who are loyal customers and brand fans. My kid was not impressed, you may have lost future customer here as well.
As one of the first families(8 of us) into the store at 10:00am opening, restrooms were our first stops. First into the Men's room, clean and beautiful. The 5 girls in our family exited the Women's bathroom, all sharing the same word, "disgusting" and they were the 1st people in at opening. Wet seat covers in 2 stalls & what I can only describe as possibly "soda" on ceiling and walls of the stalls. Off to the food court, consistent quality we go back for everything, courteous employees and impeccable cleanliness as the 1st customers. The shopping 🛍 was excellent and decorations of the holidays, beautiful.
Huge selection! First time coming into an IKEA, suprised I've never been here before. Kinda reminds me of that "at home" store that I love. They had so many nice things to choose from. I left with several things, including some nice palm trees (fake). Everything here was super cool, and the staff as very helpful as well
