Tried a few of the main meals which were not bad. Portion was great. Prices are between $20 plus to $40, depending on what mains you ordered. The fries are good, just small portion. The jap whisky is not bad ($9.80 per glass) but not for those who don't prefer it to be sweet. Did not order the sukiyaki and the range for 4 to 6 pay is between $300 plus to $500, depending on which sets you ordered. They have a 90 mins dinning rule and so that can be a rush if you are looking for a place to dine and chat with friends. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Very crowded if you do not have a reservation and during dining time. I arrived before 5pm so got a table without reservation on a Friday night.
We ordered the sukiyaki set for two to three people with ribeye. We arrived without a reservation and waited around twenty to thirty minutes. Since it was the year end and very busy, we were prepared for the wait. A male staff member kindly thanked us for waiting and even offered two complimentary drinks, which was very thoughtful. There was a bit of noise at another table, possibly due to a miscommunication, but it did not bother us. The same staff member later apologised to us, saying he was sorry if we were startled. Honestly, he seemed more apologetic than necessary, and we felt for him. The food took a little while to come out, but the moment I tried the ribeye, my eyes lit up and my heart melted. The Delmonico was also delicious, but the ribeye was on another level and truly incomparable. The vegetables and udon served with the sukiyaki were also excellent and very satisfying. My boyfriend is Japanese, and he was genuinely impressed, saying the quality was even better than what he usually has in Japan. If we were staying in Melbourne a bit longer, we would absolutely return without hesitation. Highly recommended.
Good place good vibes. Lots of Cantonese speaking people here reminds me of my time in Macau and HK. Chicken bowl is good but compared to the beef bowl it is worse. Beef bowl is excellent and good price. And service is amazing! I love the service people here. I am very picky when it comes to give reviews but this is a solid resturant.
Had such a great night at Ika Restaurant. We tried their sukiyaki with A5 Wagyu MB9 Australian and honestly everything was so good. The beef was incredibly tender and full of flavour. We also ordered a double bowl with the beef on top and it felt so satisfying like everything was done right. The service was amazing. Super friendly attentive and really helpful throughout the night. Ending the meal with a beer was the perfect way to wrap it all up and made the whole experience even better. Overall the food service and atmosphere were all on point. We had a really good experience here and would definitely come back.
The meats were so tasty. It was juicy and delicious. The sukiyaki sauce was perfect for me. I dont need to add water for the sauce. The staff cooked for us and show how to cook the meat. The condiments were ok. Only udon was too little. Perhaps can add more udon. The ambience was good. Many people inside, we still can talk at least it was not crazy noisy inside. Reservation is required otherwise you need to wait for longer time outside and definitinely long que outside the restaurant. That why, making a reservation is the best option
