Beautiful small park with large volcanic rocks visible and climbable with a water fountain and a picnic bench.
If you can hike up the big rock, you can get some overlooking views of Berkeley and farther if the sky is clear. The climb is doable without using your hands but not recomended for someone that does not have steady ballance. Some paths on the rock have irregular steps carved into it but they are not 100% of the path. Sometimes people bring their dog up the rock and I've seen a mix that were on and off leash. Nice place to reflect on your thoughts or get a view above the trees if you don't mind potentially some kids playing on the rock too.
A wonderful spot to hang out in I came here several times both with friends and alone. There are some climbers around trying their best to climb the back of the rock while most normal people climb the front to get an awesome view of the bay area. People are friendly and start up conversations with you. The sunset here is amazing.
Good boulders, good vibes Probably the easiest approach I've ever had to get to real rocks. I think the grades are slightly soft or maybe I got stronger? I visited on a Sunday with beautiful weather and the place was packed -- which means more crash pads and more pep squad, but may be lacking some of the peaceful wilderness that some may be looking for when outdoor climbing. No idea where restrooms are
What a gem! Super cool area tucked into a residential area. We visited close to sunset on a Sunday and the top of the rock was speckled with small groups enjoying the view. And what a view! Perfect view of the SF skyline and the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges. There are steps carved most of the way up and down and lots of folks climbing and scrambling everywhere else. Great for all ages!

Climb to breathtaking views of the Bay Area from Berkeley's iconic volcanic rock park.
