International Gateway is not only offers a course that helps you prepare for the TOEFL exam, but it also provides exceptional support for international students to adjust to the academic environment and culture of the United States. Besides improving my English skills, I am grateful for the guidance and support I received from their teachers and advisors, as well as the friendships I made during my time there. If you are from abroad and aspire to pursue undergraduate or graduate programs in the United States, SJSU International Gateway is an excellent place to start your path toward the university.

I started my Masters in Urban Planning 4 weeks ago (Spring 2024) at SJSU. Since the first day, I have been remembering my excellent decision to study at International Gateways before applying for the Master's degree. During these last weeks, I have understood my classes, also I can contextualize myself with historical and cultural North American references. I am reading tons of chapters at an appropriate speed without translating any word, and I am writing e-mails and assignments with accurate feedback, which means that I am expressing myself and I am being understood. Additionally, today I will make my first presentation and all the practice that I had last semester makes me more confident for today. Besides all the pleasure moments in the classes, I would like to recognize the value of the work that the teachers have been doing for international students at the International Gateways course.
