Here is the good, bad and ugly about our install. We had hear good things about Irbis from friends and neighbors and they are decent for basic installs. our installation was more complicated as we had a multi-zone system and they had to expand our floor vents. The good, they did a decent job on the mechanical and brazing the line set between the air handler and the outdoor unit. Unfortunately they had issues with nearly every other phase of the install. The bad, they left trash in the street including a bunch of screws and nails and left a bunch of crap in the crawl space. Every time they come out we find screws, cut wire, insulation and trash strewn around the furnace closet and around the compressor. We have a new puppy and have asked them on multiple occasions to make sure they clean up and pick up all of the screws and trash at the end of the job. After they tore out our old system they informed us that we needed to replace all of our duct work which felt a bit like bait and switch move as we had agreed to keeping the duct work when we scoped the project. We agreed to replacing all of the duct work and they were supposed to also replace the sheet metal plenum but reused the old plenum, didn't do the insulation they promised, and did not properly fire proof the mechanical room. I had to double check a lot of their work and call them on not doing things completely and correctly. Their contact states that they will cover all of the plenum with reflectex which they did not do and left our old reused plenum with fiberglass insulation. Their contract covered them running a brand new circuit to the furnace for $850 which they charged us for but they reused the old circuit and just converted it to a 240v circuit by installing a new breaker. The ugly: They absolutely butchered our hardwood floors and cut the vents wrong, not straight and cut the floor joists, leaving our floor unsupported around the vents. We had to have another contractor come in and repair the floors and replace the floor joists. They also cut into a built in cabinet in one of our bedrooms. Irbis is going to buy us oversized floor vents to cover up the damage to the floors, and paid for the other contractor to redo the floor joists. When their guy went to provision the system I had to walk him through the install steps as he didn't understand all of the questions that the install program was asking. They know how to install the equipment, but not how it works and anything beyond the basics. They wired the control system with high voltage wire nuts in a way that is not recommended and pretty much guaranteed to fail over time. I'm going to end up rewiring the control system myself because they refused to fix it stating that "its fine and this is the way they always do it". They insisted that we pay the full amount of the invoice before the end of the year or we would not get the federal tax credit even they they were not completely done installing our system. We are still waiting for them to finish their punch list so that we can get our duct testing completed and get our final permit. At this point I just want them to finish the last few punch list items so that I can get them to finish and get our project wrapped up. We will not be using them for maintenance and don't recommend using them based on our experience.
I was considering IRBIS and a competitor for a heat pump HVAC system. Before the sale, when I called both to ask for clarification on a quote, IRBIS called me back immediately and I never heard from the competition, despite three calls to their office to ask when the rep was going to call. I chose IRBIS and they gave me a date a month out and told me how to apply for financing. They called me back a couple of weeks later and told me that there had been a cancellation and did I want to take an install date on the upcoming Monday. I said yes and the guys showed up right on schedule. The entire replacement/ install took only two days. There was an issue overnight and I called the office. They sent the same team back to my house and they diagnosed the issue (my breaker panel had a loose connection) that morning and replaced the breaker switch, leaving me good to go. They had done a good job cleaning up, I only found a few small pieces of metal that had fallen next to my driveway. They also took care of applying for the rebates and getting photos. The only negative thing is that Carrier, the brand IRBIS carries, has a closed system API and it doesn’t allow variable speed control of the air handler using a third-party thermostat. I have the Carrier (Midea) proprietary thermostat and while it supports variable speed control, the thermostat itself is clunky and the app is terrible. I am considering calling IRBIS to switch to the EcoBee thermostat, despite the limitations on variable speed control.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent experience with plumber Umed Erbekov from IRBIS Air Plumbing Electrical We had a leak from our upstairs toilet that damaged our first-floor ceiling. After getting a very expensive quote from Mike Counsil (even just their consultation was pricey), I decided to get more opinions. I found IRBIS Air Plumbing Electrical through the City of Sunnyvale’s list of approved contractors — and I’m so glad I did. Scheduling was easy: I received a text confirmation and a tracking link for the assigned plumber, Umed Erbekov, who arrived right on time. He was very professional and careful with our home (we have white carpet upstairs) and took the time to thoroughly assess the situation. Umed explained three possible repair options, clearly outlining the pros, cons, and warranty length for each. I chose the best long-term solution — even though it was the most expensive option he presented, it was still far more reasonable than Mike Counsil’s estimate. Umed worked efficiently and with great attention to detail. He even connected us with a remediation company (FloodDry) that looks very promising for the water damage cleanup. We were so impressed with his professionalism and quality of work that we’ve already scheduled him to come back to help us fix a leak in our water meter. I highly recommend Umed Erbekov and IRBIS Air Plumbing Electrical to anyone in the South Bay area looking for honest, skilled, and reliable plumbing work.
Regarding the installation company, after comparing 8-9 companies who provided quotes, communicated with us, presented requirements, and provided solutions, and after verifying their qualifications and official website registration information, we ultimately selected IRBIS for HAVC and water heater replacement. Recommendation: IRBIS - Thoroughly reviewed the existing system and provided detailed explanations. - The on-site representative (Tim) was very professional and able to provide the best solution based on our needs. - Based on our needs, he recommended products of varying and performance levels. - He provided constructive suggestions based on city codes and regulations. - He was very dedicated and answered all questions before, during, and after the contract was signed. Responses were prompt. - He was honest and open to any questions. - The company's overall process was clear and organized, with dedicated personnel (rebate team, permit team, warranty team, quote team, installation team, etc.), which enabled quick progress on various tasks (such as the rebate). From contract signing to payment, permit application, and installation, it was completed in just one week. So efficient! - Overall, I was quite satisfied with the installation results. Jose and his partner did a really good job of installation. We appreciate their hard work. - After the installation, the installer will provide an overview of the installation and relevant documentation. Recommend it! - The service is quite extensive
What can I say?? This company is great! Changed out our gas heater furnace and replaced with a heat pump. It works great. San Bruno only have some hot hot days/weeks but I’m so glad to have a/c whenever needed. Adds value to your home. Definitely a good investment.Tim was great at explaining the system to us before we purchased. The installers were polite, nice & cleaned up after themselves.
