This was one of the best experiences I’ve had going out for dinner EVER. I have celiac disease and usually have to ask many questions, ensure things are actually gluten free, etc. When I made the reservation I simply wrote in the description “one person celiac” and that’s all I had to do! Without asking, they brought one GF menu and one normal menu and GF soy sauce. When they brought out the food, the server said “here’s your gluten free dish” with each thing that we ordered- there was no need for me to double check to ensure I would be eating safely. The sushi itself was amazing -delicious, fresh, beautifully presented and very filling. I will 100% recommend this restaurant to everyone! It was very refreshing and impressive that I did not feel like a burden to the wait staff/kitchen staff with my dietary restriction. Go eat here!

Honestly, I didn't expect much and went, but the food was of high quality and a bit expensive, but it was delicious. However, the one drawback was that I ordered shrimp tempura last, which wasn't crispy and didn't like it. Overall, it was good. If I had the time, I would like to visit again.

This was my first time trying Japonais Windermere, and unfortunately, the experience was horrible. The cleanliness and overall atmosphere were a major issue right from the start. When we sat down, the table had visible ring stains, and the table lamps felt cheap and broken. The physical menus were in terrible condition—heavily worn, scratched, peeling, and covered with stickers blocking out items they no longer serve. The beverage menu was especially gross; it was stained and actually had a hair stuck inside it. Honestly, seeing how poorly the dining area and menus are maintained makes me seriously wonder what the hygiene is like back in their kitchen. For the food, we ordered the Japonais Ultimate Select. For the high price paid ($159), I was very disappointed. The platter was mostly just sashimi and lacked a good variety of sushi, which did not feel worth the cost at all. The only redeeming factor was that our service was fine, but the gross atmosphere and disappointing value completely ruined the meal. I won't be returning.
