Matt is charming and pleasant to deal with but my ultimate goal was to get quality service as well as a quality product. I started small with adding a diamond to my 14k gold cross. He told me that minimal amounts of material (14k gold would be removed). Yet upon picking up my pendent he had removed far more gold than I was expecting. When I asked Matt about the excess material, he said the removed gold was his and was included in how he operates his business. Yet I still paid full price. He said the gold that was removed was necessary (even though several other local Jewlers disagreed with Matt’s assessment). When I mentioned this, he shrugged it off. Since I was ultimately happy with the finished product I decided to move forward with my more expensive project (a custom 10k gold pendent of my family crest). He was going to charge me $3500k for 20 grams of 10k gold. Upon further research I since learned that most jewelers charge $67 a gram for 10k gold. $67 a gram multiplied by 20 grams is $1340 not $3500. When I asked Matt about this he said that is his markup. I can understand a 10-20% markup for materials but a 261% markup for material alone is outrageous. Especially when I was still going to pay a casting fee ($650), setting fees ($600), and everything else going into the project. A project that should cost $2,600 at most he was going to charge me $5,500. In my experience he is a good jeweler but far too expensive, compared to other comparable jewelers in the area. I would highly recommend getting multiple quotes before deciding on a jeweler to do business with.

I brought these guys a ring I made for my wife that needed a diamond set into it. The issue was the ring was made out of solid titanium and after brainstorming with Matt we came up with a solution to set it. I left the ring there and shortly after I was able to pick it up and my wife was absolutely stunned. 6 out of 5 stars and highly recommend for custom jewelry.
