Excellent department store with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Well laid out and not too crowded with displays. The cafe on level 5 has superb views over the North of Edinburgh and onto the Forth of Forth and Fife beyond. Can be expensive but the quality of goods is generally very high.

Went in-store to purchase fabric, what should have been a simple task was ruined by the lack of staff in the department and the ignoring of the help points. I waited over 15 minutes for help AND pressed the help point several times but in the end gave up! Will purchase elsewhere in future now.

Not massively impressed. Went in to buy chess set - because wanted to see pieces and size etc, otherwise would have bought online. Not an inexpensive item at £50. No opened ones on display. Box sealed. Took to counter and asked to see the chess board and set and met with strong resistance. Had to advocate firmly for myself. Push back included trying to guilt me that if I didnt buy it after opened then they'd have to sell it at reduced price. Finally opened box, but then found chess pieces in sealed paper bags. Again resisted. Finally phoned to see if one on display anywhere. None. And on the staff member then asking - what I assume was a manager - whether they could therefore open it for me to see the answer was an immediate 'yes' from the manager. Not impressed that I had to be so firm in advocating to see the item I was buying when it was clear the policy is to show if a customer wants to see it. My hope is that this was just an off ay for the person serving, but a bit of training wpuld be sensible. Otherwise why would people bother to come to bricks and mortar shops, rather than just buying online.

Came in for a bra fitting today and Carolyn and Yova, her trainee, were absolutely fantastic. Really positive energy, super helpful, compassionate and friendly people. Thank you!

A proper department store that sells everything. It also has online shopping.

Lovely shop but lifts and exits need to be made clearer as hard to find. Cafe was small but good choices.
