UPDATED REVIEW: After more discussion, Jack Trent and the firm agreed to take financial responsibility for the errors that happened with my tax returns. This really improved my overall feeling with the firm and their ethics. My original review had quite a lot of detail, but I'll summarize things now as many of my concerns have now been resolved. A few oversights were made during the preparation of my 2022 personal and business tax returns and my S-Election for one of my entities. I ended up owing some additional penalties and interest due to the oversights; however, the firm has now reimbursed me for these expenses. I have paid the taxes due, but have not had to personally pay the cost of the errors. In addition, to compensate me for my time and stress related to these issues, the firm returned the fee for my 2022 tax preparation. I felt this was a fair resolution. I do believe this is a good firm. If you are a new client--especially one with business returns, business partners, special tax situations like an S-Election requirement, I recommend being very careful and vigilant to ensure you are communicated with properly and in a timely manner. I also recommend that you make sure you know if taxes are due or if there is a refund, and know that this firm will not set you up to pay your taxes electronically. You will need to send your own check or pay online. I believe as a new customer with some moderately complicated situations, better communication here could have prevented my problems. My feeling is that once you're an established customer, you will be taken care of.

We have been coming to Jack Trent for years now and have always been very happy with the service and professionalism of this company. They know it’s personal! Update: My prior post was the truth but in 2 years things drastically changed, Jack has grown ( as a former business owner I think is great for him ) and the company no longer wants to do single family returns but focus on business accounting. The past few years their prices have increased but this year we experienced a 16.6% increase but our situation has remained very constant with little change, we bring in everything needed organized and ready for them. In the past Jack was always available and we could discuss any questions or concerns. We always met with Jack when reviewing our return but he was not available this year so we reviewed with Kyle which we had to understand, we also wanted to pay our bill but it wasn’t done. A few days later my bill was emailed to us, it was such an increase I left a message for Jack to discuss but my Message was returned by Kyle, he explained that Jacks expansion has increased overhead and due to their growth this is the bill. Jack never did respond to us personally which spoke volumes! I wish him nothing but the best but we value a relationship and this one has run its course.

JTC CPAs took over our books in 2022 and have been a critical partner in our business growth. Jack and his team have tremendous leadership and you feel fully confident in their processes and execution right away. We would not be where we are today with out them. They are also very affordable for the amount of work and attention that they give our business. Would highly recommend to anyone that is looking for better accounting and business direction.

I've been a very satisfied Jack Trent & Co customer for the last six years. They do the taxes for my parents Living Trust which includes preparing K-1 forms for the heirs. The heirs cannot do their personal taxes until they have the K-1's and JTC does a great job getting this done so that the heirs have plenty of time to prepare their own taxes. I live out of state but everything is handled quickly and efficiently via email and a phone call or two. Always professional!
