Look of the chocolates are beautiful but the flavors are not that desirable. Not worth the price charged for them. I would never pay for them had so much better. Some of the flavors were ok. Received them as a gift but like I said I had so much better flavors than these.
I've been a major fan & supporter of Kate Weiser for over 10 years since the first shop opened in Trinity Groves. I've gifted it 100s of times as a way of helping the business grow by getting the word out to all kinds of people & businesses. But unfortunately after my recent experience I'll be going elsewhere for gifts and for chocolate. KW's prices are premium but the experience increasingly is not. And whereas in the past recipients have been very excited to receive KW chocolates, the novelty has definitely worn off. I'd highly recommed: 1) taking better care of faithful core customers, not just seeking new markets; 2) innovating the product beyond just adding seasonal flavors (which tend to be lackluster); 3) ensuring a premium experience if you want to charge premium prices; 4) taking note of serious competitors (like Laderach) who are now in DFW. Because I genuinely hope the best for KW, I'm leaving a detailed review with recommendations as a fellow entrepreneur. For background: I came in Dec. 22nd to buy 12 boxes for gifts--as I have many times. It wasn't crowded. Most of the time I was the only person in the shop or 1 other customer was present. My grievances and recommendations: 1) Empty box(es): After I had dropped off multiple gift boxes to recipients I realized one box felt unusually light. It turns out it had been sealed before any bon bons were put inside. I had to tell the friend I was about to hand a gift bag to that I owe them another box because the one I got for them was empty. I'm now going to need to call and check with some of the ones I gifted boxes to to verify whether they actually received any chocolates. How embarassing, not to mention an enormous waste of time. 2) Incorrect and/or unidentifiable bon bons: I got one 25-piece box for my family. I'm almost positive several bon bons were incorrectly included since they didn't match the number of each type on the order sheet. It kills a lot of the fun to not know which one is which. I would HIGHLY recommend having the photos of the seasonal bon bons included on the order sheet. It's annoying and time consuming having to write each down for each recipient--and the recipient has no way to tell which one is which without photos. This is especially important when the recipient is a couple or a family and not everyone gets to try ever flavor. If there are leftover order sheets once the seasonal bon bons are no longer available, no problem. Seeing them can entice people to check out KW's seasonal flavors and make them look forward to next year. 3) Generic boxes: KW was out of the boxes for 10 piece boxes (a very common size), so they had little generic 12 piece boxes without sleeves to make up for it. That really reduces the caliber/classiness of the gift. The generic boxes look so small and makes the gift look cheap--and without the pretty KW sleeve the artistry that makes the bon bons so special in the first place is gone from the packaging. There's also nowhere to put the order sheet so the recipient can identify what pieces are in the box. That normally slides under the sleeve. 4) Order Sheets: The order sheets used to be printed on beautiful cardstock; now they're on cheap paper whose corners easily bend and make the gift look cheap. 5) I purchased 12 boxes ($750), and didn't make any complaint that it took a full hour after I finished filling out the forms to fulfill my order. And I had told the workers to take care of everyone else who came in after me before mine so as not to inconvenience anyone. I was told in the future it's much easier for them if I order online and pick them up. Others who came in got pretty bags for each box with tissue paper. I got all my boxes placed in a giant bag and was handed a stack of empty bags to bag it all myself...and knew I'd better not ask for tissue paper. Please remember that we have many options for gifts, and that many of us are choosing small businesses we care about in order to help them survive/thrive. I felt like an annoyance or inconvenience, not a valued customer.
Liked all but 2 of our chocolates (we got a 6 pack). The 4 others were edible and okay but I don’t think they were worth $4 a piece. They had a slightly artificial taste. The hot cocoa also wasn’t good :( The prices were steep for the size and quality of the chocolate. Also the 12 oz. hot cocoa was $8. Chocolates were beautiful to look at. The customer service was excellent too! Very nice and patient employees in there tonight. Because Grapevine has so many other chocolate shops in the area I wouldn’t go back to this location.
It was an informative experience. The young lady was very knowledgeable about the hand crafted products and about the awesome chef herself Kate Weiser. I asked her about her favorite flavors. Her faves the Cookie Monster and the truffle honey. Now I wish I could ask Ms.Weiser what’s her favorite so I can try them too!!!And the macarons should be eaten in paradise because that is where my taste buds went!!!! My daughter and I shall return!!!
Kate Weiser’s Chocolates are some of the most delicious and beautifully crafted hand painted chocolates around. They are just the right size for a sweet treat reward and come in a wide variety of offerings. They are also constantly putting out new offerings to love. We recently did a chocolate making class at this location with executive chef Alex. It was a lot of fun and we learned so much (and got to take home a lot of chocolate). We hope they offer more classes in the future because we will definitely be there. We also attended the 11 year anniversary event which was a ton of fun. The Dubai chocolate cups were a treat as were the golden tickets. The line outside was a bit long so Kate herself came out to drink chocolate samples and frozen chocolate drinks. She’s just a class act and a business you wholeheartedly want to support because of her character and the joy, love, and character of her whole staff. Would recommend stopping by the pick up some chocolates any time and look out for their classes and special events!
