Went here for dinner last night and honestly could not fault a thing. The staff were lovely, vibrant and attentive. The food - WOW!!! I meant it when I said to the staff this is one of the best dining experiences I have EVER had. Excuse the photos - I’m not the best photographer haha. We started with the edamame and mixed sashimi. Delicious!! Most tables were ordering edamame too - definitely a good sign of what’s to come. My date has eaten edamame at many places, including in Japan, and she said this was probably the best she’s ever tried! I’ve never tried edamame before but was an instant fan! Yum!!! The sashimi was also perfect - super fresh and flavoursome - kingfish was the standout! For the main we had the spatchcock (staff recommendation), striploin and triple cooked potatoes. Another WOW!!! I haven’t had spatchcock for some time but it was cooked perfectly - flavoursome and the sauce was delicious. Could not be faulted. I am a huge potato fan and the triple cooked potatoes + sauce were to die for! Massive flavour hit - the sauce was hard to describe, but I can assure you it worked perfectly! I could come back for this alone! The striploin as well - cooked absolutely perfectly, chimichurri topping was amazing. All of it melted in your mouth. VERY flavoursome. Lucky last, but not least, was the Ichigo Cheesecake. I only wish that we had gotten two desserts instead of one to share as this was delicate, light, yet decadent (we were very full by this point, but no complaints haha). Very delicious! We had a Pinot noir and Pinot gris - both wines, also great! We’re in Sydney for the weekend and I genuinely wish we had booked here two nights in a row so we could have tried more. We will most certainly be back and I would encourage anyone who loves Japanese food and a fine dining experience to come here. Bars around too if you feel like a hanging around after dinner. Prices were reasonable considering the impeccable quality. To the chefs and staff, I say thank you for an amazing experience and sensory overload. Food is one of the great pleasures in life, and this restaurant will provide your tastebuds with an unforgettable experience. Cannot wait to come back next time I’m in Sydney.

We ordered the tasting set menu. Very nice fusion Japanese. Yes not quite truely traditional Japanese taste. We enjoyed our dinner though. Loved the squid tempura. The wagyu steak is perfectly done with what we requested for medium rare. Well, we'll ask for medium next time 😄 . We actually wanted medium, but restaurants tend to overcook, so we used to ask for medium rare + the overcook = our expected medium 😆. It was on Thur night. Not packed. Good vibe & reasonably quiet enough for us to enjoy our dinner. Not sure if the restaurant is packed though, as the tables seem quite close to each other. Surely, will come again to try other dishes on the menu.

Some dishes had a noticeable sour flavour, which is quite unusual for a Japanese restaurant. It wasn’t what we expected, and overall the taste didn’t suit us. Service was fine, but the food wasn’t to our preference.

A beautiful restaurant with incredible food & service to match. A modern twist on traditional Japanese food. The Edamame & Salmon Maki roll were truly delicious as was the Roast Spatchcock with miso. The Confit Ocean Trout was impeccable and the Ichigo cheesecake dessert was an absolute perfect end to the meal. If you want to impress someone, this is the place to go. A great date night restaurant. Short walk from Martin place metro station.
