I recently had to deal with a series of injuries that had me feeling a little hopeless that I'd be able to climb again any time soon and without surgery. Steve was great at talking me through my injuries and guiding me through recovery. It is amazing to have a PT that is actually involved in the sport (climbing). Now I am pretty much back to 100% thanks to the exercises and advice Steve has given me.
Steve both fixed my years long synovitis and improved my climbing. I have been to previous physical therapists and while their exercises were useful, having a PT who actually understands and digs deep into how I'm holding crimps, drags, and how my preferred style of climbing might be contributing to my issues is a world beyond. He identified that I tended to twist my wrist so that my pinky fit onto holds fully, which caused all my joints to get this weird diagonal pressure while crimping. I don't think many other professionals could have pointed that out, and I am so so grateful to Steve!!
I recently completed a series of physical therapy sessions with Steve Kim to address a shoulder muscle tear, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. Over the course of ~six sessions, Steve not only helped reduce the pain in my shoulder but also uncovered a number of subtle ergonomic habits I had while working that were likely contributing to my shoulder and neck issues. As someone who strength trains regularly, I was initially worried that I’d be sidelined for a long time. Steve quickly eased those concerns by incorporating lifting-specific assessments and adjustments into our sessions, making sure I wasn’t aggravating my injury and could return to training safely. He paid close attention to my form, explained the reasoning behind each exercise, and gave me practical guidance I could apply both in the gym and at my desk. This was my first time working with a physical therapist, and Steve set the bar incredibly high. His knowledge, thoughtful approach, and ability to tailor treatment to my specific lifestyle made a real difference in my recovery. I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with an injury—especially if you want a PT who understands the demands of strength training and everyday movement habits.
Steve has been great. The quality of care I got for my shoulder injury has been top notch. He was able to unblock me mentally and also speed up my recovery through a combination of PT exercises/regiments. Great PT for anyone who is really into sports and body movements. As a regular climber myself, I couldn’t not recommend Steve more.
Dr Steve was a great resource in helping me to recover from a shoulder injury. He not only provided me with a plan to get out of pain and improve shoulder strength, but took the time to broaden my understanding of shoulder mechanics. As a climber, Dr Steve was able to provide sport specific advice for training and techniques to keep the shoulder strengthened and uninjured in the future. He’s personable and explains body mechanics in an easily understandable way. Highly recommend especially if you are dealing with a climbing related injury.
