I was driving around Oakland and decided that I wanted to fix my fade. Went through Google maps and I found a place that was open and offered a 2:00 appointment. The time was 1:50 p.m. when I arrived she was unaware that I had booked the last minute appointment so I waited for about 10 minutes. Then I asked what it would cost to correct my fade and was told it's $125 for an hour. Obviously I was not prepared to spend an hour or even 30 minutes and pay over $50 for what should be a 5 minute, $35/$40 fade correction. I'm sure that they are absolutely five star when it comes to cutting untextured hair. But the fact that she thought it would take 30 minutes to fix my fade told me she did not know how to do black hair. And the search continues...

Avery cuts my 14 year old son's hair. He has shoulder length hair and we've been around the East Bay trying to find a more styled look for him and finally found Avery. They made his hair more manageable for sports and cut it to highlight his naturally wavy hair with minimal (read no) maintenance - he looks great and loves his cut.

This was my first time at Knuckleheads and Harlots. Frank immediately made me feel comfortable and welcomed. When they say your appointment is for an hour they mean it, Frank took time to make sure everything was perfect! Frank is my guy now without a doubt!

I got a great haircut from Avery! I came to my appointment with a clear sense of what I wanted and a complete inability to effectively describe it, and Avery was able to make it happen. Their prices are super reasonable and we ended up having extra time so they gave me a wash and style at the end of my cut.The space itself is sort of whatever to me, but Avery did a great job giving me a look that worked with my hair texture and the aesthetic I was hoping for, and one that requires, as I want, very little to be done to it in the morning. Would definitely go back next time I am in need of a haircut in Oakland, and have convinced a few of my local friends to try them out!
