I wanted a gym where I could just play basketball for a month. So I called to get a 1 month rate. Khalid, a salesman, then tried to get me to sign up for a monthly membership, I had to tell him numerous times I didn't want that. So, he gave me a price, I agreed, and he told me to meet him at a certain time before he left for the day. I got there 3 minutes late and he had gotten up from his desk already. So the other sales guy told me just to wait for him at his desk and that Khalid would be back. After 10 minutes, he told me to look for Khalid at the Basketball court, and I did find him there. On the walk back to the desk Khalid tried to push a membership on me repeatedly and I repeatedly told him I just wanted 1 month. When we got to the desk he then was fed up that I didn't want to sign up long term so he told the other guy to sign me up (the same salesman who's desk I was waiting at for 10 minutes.) By that time, the other salesman was on the phone with some company's customer service and I had to wait for the phone call to finish for him to help me. After another 10 minutes of waiting he rung me up, took my card and I paid for my month membership. When I checked my credit card statement later, the charge wasn't to LA Fitness but rather to his personal Venmo account. The only redeeming quality of this gym are the service workers and all the guys I played basketball with were friendly and nice.
I’ve been going to LA Fitness locations in the Cities for 4+ years. I lift weight 3 times per week, so i can only speak for free weight section and machine section. I love this gym. I’m at the St. Paul location almost exclusively. I’d love to give 5 stars but I can’t and really it’s the simple things. First, they don’t plow their parking lot. Enough said, no excuses for that. Plenty of companies will plow before and after hours. My biggest complaint, also an easy fix, is that I’ve never once in 4 years seen an employee walking around putting weights away. Not once! Which is crazy because I used to go 5 times a week. It’s definitely the responsibility of the member to rack their weights, but guess what? When a member leaves weights lying around, it’s the gym’s responsibility to perform the most basic task of putting them away. I come in every Sunday morning right when the gym opens and there are weights EVERYWHERE. Maybe it’s not that big of a deal, but it annoys me to no end. I should get a discount on my membership since I pick up weights every time I work out. I definitely make more of an effort to keep this gym nice than the employees do.
I'm at LA FITNESS 1 to 3 days of the week. It's not because I want to but because I have bodily injuries that I sustained over the years(every since a toddler). Doctor orders. Nice local gym. Automatically transferred my Bally's account when Bally's went out of business. The staff and members are also nice. I'm motivated and enjoy my Physical Therapy routine at this facility.
Hosea consistently provides excellent customer service at the Midway LA Fitness. He is very personable, professional, and always makes members feel welcome. I truly enjoy interacting with him—he takes the time to engage with everyone and creates a positive, friendly environment. His genuine attitude and commitment to great service make every visit a better experience.
I’m a fitness professional with 35 years of experience participating with hundreds of gyms, classes, and instructors. I’ve been to country clubs down to basic and inadequate spaces. This is a mid-level to upper mid-level establishment. They have a wide variety of machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. The space is large with lots of patrons (keeping these spaces clean, updated, and safe is not as easy as the public thinks). I have only been to this gym between the hours of 5am-8am. But I was happy to see cleaning staff each time. The front desk staff was friendly and inviting, the manager was engaging and professional, and they are a part of the silver sneakers program which is great for my parents! I do recommend!
