I rarely write reviews - this may be my first in 10 years. To put it bluntly, the services advertised by this spa are a scam. That is, they are intentionally misleading consumers with the descriptions/information on their website. I paid for 2x "Body Strategist + Thermal Mud Treatment" (~400$ per person) for my partner and I . What we received was: Mint oil being rubbed on our bodies and being wrapped in a hot towel (for 80 minutes) - no massage, no service explaining what was happening, no "body strategizing" (not even sure what this is). When contacting management, I was told that "there was mud being applied to your body, it was just so diluted that you don't feel it" (???) and "our website specifically says treatment and not bath" (I would wager most people reading the description on the website would assume a mud bath). No offer of refund or other services, no apology. I immediately contacted my credit card company. Quite frankly, I am shocked that a spa attached to a 5-star resort on Miami Beach is taking this line. Part of me can't help but feel like this is my fault as I did not read the reviews before booking - would highly suggest that anyone looking to book do so. Besides the treatment itself, the facilities are rundown (showers do not have products, bathrooms are dirty, staff are lackadaisical and nowhere to be found, shared facilities such as hot tub/pool are tiny and dirty).
I visited the Lapis Spa at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas and my experience there was superb. Today I visited the Lapis Spa in Miami and overall the experience was just average. The biggest issue for me was the staff in the locker room. The attendants came across as unwelcoming and even a bit irritated whenever I asked simple questions. It made the environment feel uncomfortable, when a spa should feel relaxing and friendly. While waiting for my facial, I was seated in the lounge area relaxing when the attendant abruptly came in and said, “lets go,” and walked away and closed the door on me, in a very rude and dismissive tone. In a spa environment, where guests come to relax and feel cared for, this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. I have visited many spas across the country, and unfortunately, this was the worst customer service I have experienced from staff. Every spa I have been to the staff is always very calm, welcoming, and kind… this was not the case today. It was disappointing and made me feel more tense rather than relaxed. On a positive note, the facial I received was very nice and genuinely calming. The esthetician did a great job. However, the spa itself feels outdated and lacks any standout or “wow” elements. With better customer service and some updates to the space, this could be a much better experience. As it stands now, it was mediocre and not somewhere I’d be excited to return to.
I decided to book a 50 minute relaxing massage here as I heard this is one of the best spas. The staff were very nice. The massage itself was good. My favorite part was when she massaged my hands, feet and scalp. But sometimes during the massage it felt like she was just rubbing oil on me. I did enjoyed the flavored water and snacks available for us to eat before and after the massage. My favorite was the banana chips and slices of oranges. The amenities are nice but it seemed like more upkeep is needed. I saw one of the handles of the bathroom door become loose, the shower head for one of the showers had a lot of buildup and the tiles are loose in the steam room. I do like how they remind the clients not to take pictures out of respect of others. But it also forces us to enjoy the moment. I enjoyed my time here and being able to use the spa and hotel's amenities after the massage but I was expecting better quality for the price paid and the fact that it’s located at the Fontainebleau.
The spa is in desperate need of a facelift. I came for miami spa month so I’m not upset as i did not pay full price. The tiles in the steam room are chipping off and the showers in the waterfall area are moldy. I also have never been to a spa that didn’t provide sandals upon entrance…i wore my own the entire time. It was gross walking around. There were also no items for after spa care like a simple face wash… i would rate it less stars but my massage was good.
I had a very disappointing experience at this spa. The amenities are outdated, and the service was poor from start to finish. The robes provided felt like they had already been worn by someone else, and I had to request slippers, which the staff then had to search for. My partner and I booked 80-minute massages, costing $800 in total. Given the price, we expected a high-level spa treatment but were sorely let down. Despite living in Miami and having access to many spas, I can confidently say I will never return to this place. The showers didn’t even have hot water, which is unacceptable. The tea station was also subpar. Overall, this spa offers low-level service and amenities. Save your money and time and go to a local massage place where you’ll receive better treatment for a fraction of the cost.
