Morgan and Andy from Latitude Climbing & Fitness are the absolute best ! They helped myself and my 5 year old son learn how to clip into a harness, wear appropriate climbing shoes , went over safety procedures and even helped my son be brave enough to don a climbing harness when he didn’t want to ! I can’t say enough nice things about Morgan & Andy ! Highly recommend latitude climbing & fitness gym of Hampton to all mom’s and their kids who want a fun active play date !
Great gym with fun routes. My boyfriend and I visited from out of state and found that it was a great way to burn up some down time we had. Rental gear was decently priced! Although I will say, none of the rental harnesses had belay loops- not necessarily a negative, but just a heads up if you don't have a harness with you! All of the auto belay routes were different enough from each other where we didn't get bored, which was great. Also shout-out to the person who did our orientation! They were very kind and patient, especially considering that I'd never used auto belay before haha. Some of the staff up front were a bit raucous thoug, I understand getting excited about things, but it made it a bit hard to watch the required video and talk to other front desk staff.
Very great atmosphere and staff experience. If you're looking to exercise, conquer a wall or do some yoga latitude offers it all. Pros: Great facilities Auto belaying Lead climbing Normal belaying Tons of bouldering Fancy bathrooms Close location to stores but still easy to access. Friendly staff Gear rentable and buyable in store Free water Free training and help from staff Military (can cancel and freeze membership at any time) Cons $Price$ Gear rental not included in membership (but free first 2 weeks) Military discount (does little to anything price wise) Only thing keeping this from being a 5 ⭐ review is the price... It's almost $40 for a single day with gear rentals and it's $80 for a month without gear included. $140 for a couples membership. I'm not sure why $80 feels like a lot but when deciding whether or not to get a membership, it was fairly difficult to bring myself to do it. There is also a sign on price for starting memberships They do birthday party's and small events too
Started taking my 5yo granddaughter on July 25th. She loves going and is working 5.8 auto-belay routes on the big walls already. She loves the bouldering walls; so much that she complained "they changed my routes with asking me." Once the staff told her it was so she could have more fun without getting bored she stated "well I guess that's okay!" The Staff is exceptional, friendly, and every patron has been encouraging and supportive of her. Waiting on my schedule to mesh with a Top Rope Belay class, so that she can move to those routes. Check it out and see for yourself! This place is great even for a 5 year old!
