I’m very grateful to LAM and to Mr. Peterson. My kids have learned not only piano skills but also a true love for music. We really appreciate the two recitals each year and all the extra opportunities to hear live music through the Louisville Orchestra and other performances. I’m also deeply thankful for the scholarship—it has been a great help to our family. LAM has truly been a blessing to us!
The Louisville Academy of Music has really inspired our child to enjoy music and has given her so much confidence in her abilities. She is in competitive marching band and the lessons from LAM really strengthened not only her skills as a musician, but have given her an air of professionalism that will serve her well in high school and beyond. She truly loves playing in the concert band and marching band, which I don't think would have been possible without the support she's received from LAM.
My child has been going to LAM for 4 years and it has been a fantastic experience! It's a great place to take music lessons of course but it's so much more. It's the community outreach and engagement with the greater regional performing arts community that brings in so many more opportunities for my daughter than just a weekly music lesson. She's enjoyed beautiful lesson rooms in a historic building but she also benefited from regular recitals in their lovely hall. She's had fun at the various summer camps, clubs, mentoring meetings, and participates on an advisory board. There have been special events, chamber groups classes, composition classes, and master classes, and competitions. She's also has experience with community performances at the library, art museum, parks, and a nursing home. They mentoring is great! Students are advised on attending reputable music summer camps around the country are prepared with a comprehensive repitoir necessary for auditions. Her teachers helped her find the right colleges for her music goals and helped successfully navigate the audition process. She's excited to be attending a music Conservatory next fall. We, as parents, enjoyed her recitals but also the faculty recitals, and special fundraising events. The people that run LAM are kind and helpful and always looking for new and exciting ways to help more people love playing music. A new renovation has made the building ADA compliant. Parking is free and the lessons are affordable. As a non profit, they also have outreach at schools, offer scholarships, and take donations. I highly recommend this school to anyone, child or adult. They are an asset to the community.
The Louisville Academy of Music is exceptional and continues to be an invaluable resource for our two children! Both of our children take piano lessons at LAM and the past two years we’ve seen our children develop a true love and appreciation for music. Their experience at LAM continues to be rooted in the thoughtful instruction they receive as well as the deep sense of community the Academy provides. We are grateful to be members of the LAM Community and truly enjoy seeing our kids grow more confident not only as musicians, but also as young adults.
The teachers at LAM have been wonderful! The teachers that my three kids have (viola, piano & guitar) are highly trained musicians who are kind and accommodating to each child's needs. They have been tremendously helpful working with our schedules and doing makeup classes( via Zoom or in-person) when needed. We've recommended they to other family members who have been equally satisfied.

Inspiring musical excellence and community through exceptional education for all ages.
