Do not shop here if you are looking for authentic vintage items. I purchased a Louis Vuitton bag that was represented as authentic, but after having it professionally appraised, I was informed it is counterfeit. I paid $300 and should have trusted my instincts, as authentic items are not sold at that price. Misrepresenting counterfeit goods as authentic is unacceptable.
Well, unfortunately I didn't get to have a very good experience. So on Monday I called the store and asked if they buy Gucci bags. The guy told me that yes they do and the person who does the buying will be in on Wednesday between 11-6. I said, cool, I'll come in on Wednesday then. So....I drive all the way from LA Mesa to Hillcrest around 12:30pm on Wednesday and after circling the block a few times, I finally find a parking spot. So I pay the meter and walk the couple blocks to the store on to be extremely disappointed and frustrated. First, the store is closed. It has a will return at 230 sign on the door. Like, really?!?!? The , under that sign, there is a hand written sign that says "We are not currently buying". You can't be serious. I just drove 20 min, paid for parking and walked two blocks with a brand new Gucci Handbag after waiting 2 days to come down and sell the bag to the store. BEYOND FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING. Then to top it off, called the store number to see if they would look at the bag when they returned in 2 hours since we were already down here, and it went to voice mail, which by the way, you can't even leave a message since the voice mail is full. And no one bothered to return my call off their caller ID either. It's really a huge inconvenience for a customer like myself who was told by an employee what and when the selling process is and then no one even bothered to return my missed call. Things happen, I get that but it's pretty unprofessional to present a store this way. I was hoping to purchase a LV Handbag while I was down there but I never had the opportunity. You would think a small business who is trying to make it would attempt to be more organized so people don't waste their time and money trying to spend their money at a place that isn't even available and doesn't even take the time to return missed calls. Too bad because the place looks like they have some cool stuff but their customer experience is seriously lacking. This experience is not how you create a return customer base. 😒
Open according to hours. Drovr across town. Closed bc … ??? Found this note. Can’t sit around an hour. Guess I’ll drive back to the other side of town!?
This is my go-to spot in Hillcrest for gay clothes! They have clothing, hats, and a few home items. The owner is very nice and there is a changing room if you want to try anything on. Warning: The only thing I am not 100% sure of is that when I was inside the dressing room, I could see two cameras from inside the store pointed in my direction. How do I know if those cameras can see me, or if I am barely out of the camera sight? That's sketchy to me. Please be aware of your surroundings, always. I do not mean to accuse the owner of anything bad, but I feel the cameras need to be placed somewhere completely out of sight of the dressing rooms.
SCAM ALERT TLDR They scam sellers and buyers to make more money and have been doing it for years. Way overpriced. Go to Flashbacks instead. When we walked in the manager told us everything was 20% off. My friend found an overpriced forever 21 jacket ($26) and I sold a few NWT items. The manager priced all my items for a total of $50 of which I would receive 25% (12.50) cash or 35% store credit (which is lower than other resale stores). I was surprised because everything in the store is priced very high so I found it unlikely all my items would be priced so low. He insisted the prices were correct. I asked for store credit to cover the jacket & he originally gave 25% in store credit. Luckily I checked his math and called it out to received the 35%. After all this I didn’t notice he never gave us 20% off on the jacket so we paid full price. I had a funny feeling about the prices so I went back 2 days later and all the items were marked up 300-400%. Shirts he told me were $8 were priced at $24 and $32. So I received $2.80 instead of $8-12. I brought this to the attention of the manager who gave me excuses saying the owner sets the prices and all the other stores do the same thing (aka lie to you). Any store manager should be able to accurately price items in his own store, but if he’s not capable of doing so then only the owner should be allowed to buy items. At Buffalo Exchange buying is an entry level position. Both Buffalo Exchange and Flashbacks (2 doors up) price the items accurately with price tags in front of you. After asking to speak to the owner, instead of offering to pay me the difference and honor their own buying policy, they said I could bring the jacket back and they would give me my items back. This shows me they are not prepared to pay any sellers appropriately. There’s a similar review dated 6 years ago and I’ve heard the same from someone else. I doubt most people even notice because they don’t go back and check the prices but this is how they run things. Don’t support this place, there are so many better resale stores at better prices that are ethical. Flashbacks and Buffalo exchange are on the same block, they offer 50% store credit back to sellers, are much more reasonably priced, and have way better inventory.
