My private lessons at Maha Yoga with Michael Cohen are beyond belief. Michael is an amazing yoga instructor on so many levels. He’s patient, poise and knowledgeable. He has helped me so much not only in my yoga practice but in my overall life/well being. His 7:30 am yoga classes I equally enjoy. Every single time I leave any of his classes I feel energetically relaxed.
What do you even say about the place where you find so much peace and happiness? Where you meet people who are so delightful, they become family? Where you can heckle your teachers? Maha is a national treasure in the greatest city in the world. My first class was with Alan as a sub. Alan offered animal facts with progressions and silliness, and I was sold. I am a devoted Alan fan. 4ever. I was fortunate to take advanced classes with Justicia even though it had been eons since I had folded myself in to such incredible pretzel shapes. Terrifyingly satisfying? YES. I love Karen's strength when she teaches us, she makes me want to be stronger, not just foldy. Haley? She is a delight. So much so that my cat is obsessed with her since I practice remotely. Jills focus on core strength and her sequences are divine. And I detest core work. But she makes it fun and enjoyable, and her classes focus on some challenging poses is amazing. Deepthi's pranayama and her soothing voice remind you that breathing is important but also a good thing to do. Desiree's upbeat uplifting classes make my heart happy. If I could, I would have relocated the whole gang down to my new home, for me personally because they are the absolute best. When in Philly, I make it a point to take as many classes with my favorite people because they bring me such joy. Bonus stickers for dvr classes for a random evening hip opener sequence or gentle class. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
Was working in Philly for just over a week and always like to try new yoga studios whenever I travel and every class I did at Maha was exceptional. You can tell they have cultivated something really special here, everyone is so friendly and helpful, the space is very calming - I wish I had a studio like this in London!
Such an amazing yoga studio. Clean space, changing rooms, bathrooms, mat storage for members, intro package deal, an excellent selection of classes suiting different needs/levels, and I’ve never had an unpleasant experience with anyone who works there. All the staff have been so welcoming and friendly, and the yoga teachers care about each person’s needs and providing accommodations/alternatives. Most days there’s usually 3 class times, and they’re spread out to fit various schedules. I’ve also been loving the mobility classes!
Maha is an exceptional and welcoming yoga/mobility studio. I've studied with most of the teachers by now and they've each been fantastic in their own ways. Classes provide plenty of modifications to choose from so you can find what level of stretch feels right that day. Every time I walk into the space, I appreciate the calm energy and sense of community. I highly recommend checking them out.
