This shop and Tax Navigator are connected, after walking in I found out I was working with someone at M&S who was actually fronting as Tax Navigator... very strange setup. Anyways, absolutely a TERRIBLE experience now that Tim is gone. I was charged over double for my tax prep this year vs last with Tim and had a suprise, uncommunicated bill at time of filing - literally holding my tax filing hostage.. Absolutely unprofessional, argumentative, and manipulative. I highly recommend NOT working with them! Run! Original review: I've worked with Tim as a Tax Navigator client for a few years. He has been fantastic making sure my taxes are done correctly and taking the time to help plan and adjust as time goes on. Highly recommend him!

I highly recommend Martinez & Shanken based upon my extensive experience using their accounting services for my two businesses. Earl is great to work with and very responsive to inquiries. He typically picks up the phone or gets right back to me which is a wonderful customer service attribute. In addition, he is knowledgeable in his field and very patient with me when reviewing tax returns and our financial records. I was once in a time crunch for some important numbers and Earl adjusted his schedule at the last minute and worked well past their closing time to help me. This level of customer service rarely exists anymore! Two thumbs up and five stars for Earl Shanken and team!

I have been using Martinez and Shanken since 1997. It was very important to me as a small business owner that my tax needs were met with seriousness and a level of professionalism. I went to the smaller block tax services and they really missed the mark when it came to finding me the optimal benefits that was needed. At Martinez and Shanken my gains far surpassed any tax service I had previously. I have relocated in the last 3 years I am still able to use their services through emails and phone calls as if I were in the same room. Thankfully I will never have to go anywhere else as I would not trust my small business, professional, and personal needs to anyone else. I no longer fear tax season and now actually look forward to it with a sense of optimism.
