During my consultation, his responses to my questions often began with “that’s a great question,” but then shifted into why he couldn’t directly answer them. It felt to me like there was an implied caveat that he could only provide specific guidance if I formally retained him as a client. I left the consultation feeling like I had paid $150 largely to hear a sales pitch rather than receive actionable guidance. When I asked whether I should file a motion to reopen, a motion to reconsider, or both, he explained the differences between the options but declined to give his opinion on which might apply to my situation. After we finished discussing my questions in about 10–15 minutes, we still had time remaining. I had previously sent him the I-290B form and asked whether he could review it during the remaining time. He explained that document review was an additional service he offers. I attempted to explain that I was simply seeking general guidance, similar to how I—as an engineer—might offer informal advice without stamping plans or assuming liability. While I understand that legal practice has nuances I don’t fully grasp (as he pointed out to me), the tone of the conversation changed at that point, and I personally felt talked down to. He also stated that he felt I was bullying him, which was not my intention. To be clear, I believe he likely does excellent work for clients who formally retain him, and his professional record suggests that. However, based on my experience, if you are handling your own paperwork and are looking for general guidance rather than formal representation, I would not recommend paying the consultation fee.
I have to say that since walking into Marvin Law Office in the summer of 25. Everyone has been very kind and made my husband and I feel very welcome. We met with Marvin and he explained the process and took his time making sure we understood the process. Anytime we had questions they were answered in a timely manner. Stephanie was always such a big help and very supportive. We appreciate the support and encouragement from everyone at Marvin Law Office. I encourage anyone who is feeling like there is no hope to reach out to Marvin Law Office.

Marvin Law were outstanding helping me to get my green card. Being an immigrant and applying for any type of visa is a mind bogglingly complicated process. I tried doing it on my own for a student visa and accidentally came within 6 hours of my visa status expiring. When it came to applying for my green card, I was so overwhelmed by all the forms and paperwork I didn't know where to start and was terrified of making a mistake (especially since you will lose your application fees and then you have to save all that money up again as well). I hunted around online for an immigration lawyer and decided to go with Marvin Law because they're local, competent and very approachable. Best decision I could have made. These guys are super quick to respond to any question you have (and I had some off the walls crazy visa stuff come up along the way), they make collecting all the documentation you need easy to understand and help you through the interview process. I'm grateful to everyone at Marvin Law for helping me through this process. I can breathe easier now that my future is secure with my family. Thank you!!
My and my husband's experience with this attorney have been incredible! We decided to receive help from an attorney to get everything right the first time and it was absolutely the right decision. All of our documents were sent in May of 2025 and already received my green card in the end of October 2025, which is a lot faster than we expected. During our process, the attorney was always fast to answer any questions we had about anything regarding our case, both over phone and email. They were all very helpful and professional and I had all my trust in them. Thank you again for your assistance!
