A very long overdue review! Favourite coffee shop, hands down! Our ritual Saturday’s mornings on the way to the market and their espresso beans in our machine during the week! We love Phong and Dawn!

Easily my new favourite coffee place in town! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, which made me feel very comfortable. I ordered a latte and it came out perfect! Will be my new go to place! Highly recommend!!

I visited Matter of Taste in Kitchener with a friend recently. We were creating a short social media reel, and I want to start by saying that the coffee itself was excellent, and the café has a nice atmosphere. However, our experience was unfortunately affected by the behavior of the staff member behind the counter (the person preparing the coffee). His attitude toward us felt unwelcoming and unnecessarily rude. At one point, we picked up a tissue box because there was no tissue box on our table, even though tissues are typically kept on tables. Instead of addressing this politely, he abruptly told us to put it back where we picked it up, in a tone that felt disrespectful and uncomfortable. As South Asian customers, the interaction left us feeling singled out and unwelcome, which was disappointing and concerning. Customer service should be courteous and respectful to everyone, regardless of background. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving staff behavior, because the café and coffee truly have potential — but respectful service matters just as much as good food and drink.

I don’t know how I haven’t reviewed this cafe yet, Matter of taste is my go to in the evening hours since they have longer open times than most local cafes. I’ve had many of their treats, including scones, artichoke pastries, peach iced teas, matcha iced teas, pinkalicious, strawberry matcha, etc. and all have been great :) their matcha especially is good quality and always refreshing. My favourites are the matcha iced tea, their peach iced tea, and strawberry matcha. The atmosphere is charming and quaint, with postcard memorabilia and old maps of kitchener decorating the place. There is plenty of seating, but during afternoon hours it can get quite full :) I often have coffee dates, read, or just pop by for a quick break here. Its also next to the second hand book shop so you can totally make a fun adventure outta that. They also have an outdoor patio. Staff are friendly and service is quick. Edit: Peach iced tea seems different to last year, much stronger fruit flavour almost tasting like apricots? But still refreshing. The GELATO THOUGH. Worth the hype.

Great coffee and a cozy atmosphere! In the summer, they serve delicious ice cream. Friendly staff and a lovely spot to relax or take a break.
