UPDATE: Thank you, Mavis team, for a prompt response. So sorry for the second email. Many have reached out to share that they will be unable to make it tonight or to express concern about the weather. To be clear, there is no confusion- this is gaslighting. Your employees provided different answers to how the maintenance was completed. Your team has failed to hand over any documents detailing the full scope of service. And the customer service was downright patronizing. Cameras in an auto shop are not close enough to properly capture the maintenance close to the engine and under the car. Your insistence on a dealer checking your work is a clear admission of incompetence. Your inconsistency, lack of professionalism, and obvious disregard for the safety of your customers are shameful. ____________________ This company has truly awful customer service, deceptive practices, and unprofessional staff. They demonstrate a true disregard for the safety of their customers. My sister brought her vehicle for a simply oil change. Instead, the shop performed shoddy, careless work, seemingly pouring new oil on top of the old oil. When my sister raised concerns, the staff had the audacity to advise her to leave with a car that was unsafe to drive. This was not a minor oversight or a difference of opinion - this was a clear safety issue that any responsible auto shop should have addressed immediately. Rather than taking accountability, the staff dismissed concerns, minimized the seriousness of the problem, and attempted to shift responsibility back onto the customer. At no point did they act with urgency, transparency, or professionalism. The person in charge of the district, Corey, was patronizing and the folks at the corporate office were also unhelpful with few options to remedy the situation. Avoid this shop - and any Mavis shop.
**MAVIS RUINED MY ENGINE** Update: I called the number left in the Mavis comment below. Although the person I spoke to was nice and seemed equally as confused at the handling of this case, Corporate cannot help. They said it's up to the Regional Manager's discretion. All this over a bad oil change. Do not risk going to this place! Original Post: I went to Mavis for an oil change and started experiencing issues - rough idling, ticking, leaking oil. Went back and they said it was only a half quart over in oil, but that the oil change service was not to blame. They assured me I was safe to drive the car. I knew something wasn't right, so I took it to another mechanic. They found 3 quarts overfilled oil in my car and said it was very dirty! They advised that my engine was likely damaged from the overfilled oil. I had a dealership confirm that the engine is damaged - nearly $3000 in damages and diagnostics. Obvious damage that Mavis would have clearly seen during the initial oil change if this was a pre-existing issue. Mavis Regional Manager and Corporate refuse to take any accountability or offer resolution. Corporate told me on a recorded line that they don't trust the footage and incident reports of their staff, but then turned around a couple days later and said they wouldn't review my claim or the corresponding evidence. I asked a Corporate supervisor to review that recorded call with me, because I could not understand how they could say that but then disregard my claim. He confirmed it was recorded, but refused to review it. Mavis told me twice that the car was safe to drive. The dealership and other mechanic shop advised it's extremely dangerous for me to drive it because the engine could fail. Great example of how Mavis truly does not care about the safety of their costumers. Anything to not sign a loss form. Corporate refused to review the footage of the oil change, which the Regional Manager claims shows a proper oil change, but no one at corporate will confirm. How is that right? What is the point of offering a claim with corporate if they refuse to help? The manager asked if I wanted to see footage of them changing the oil and I said I'm not a mechanic. How do I know if it's right? That should be evaluated by their corporate office to mediate - at the very least! It's truly sad that a business can cause this kind of a loss to costumer with little to no investigation by a third party. It's their word against yours. Don't risk going to this place!
My car had a couple of unknown issues that I asked them to look at. My experience with them was fantastic, and they were able to identify the things I needed to fix. Although my car's issues were beyond their scope of practice, they were kind enough to recommend me several other locations who could help me with the workup I needed. They also didn't charge me for looking over my car and were very kind throughout the whole process. As someone who isn't very well versed in car issues, this really made me feel more relaxed. Highly recommend them!
We went in without an appointment and they were very accommodating and quick to action with what seemed like a busy shop. We were helped immediately at the front desk by Cam and he kept us updated with what they were doing in the shop while we were able to grab a seat in the waiting room. As far as having a good car shop experience could go, this is definitely a shop to return to.
Cam went above and beyond. A genuine guy who does so much for his customers. He was very busy and didn’t have time but when I told him it was my only day off, he squeezed me in for my annual inspection. Absolutely a gem of a person, Mavis can’t find a better manager!
