Nice place, great customer service. Food was just okay however the alcoholic beverages were not. All of us complained about the drinks and the taste of food was 50/50.

This is one of my wife’s favorite restaurants! The food is consistently good and we brought two couples who had never been there before. The only surprise to them was that there is a charge for chips and salsa- which is generally complimentary at most Mexican restaurants. While the costs of running a restaurant have certainly escalated over the past few years, so has the cost of dining out. Complimentary chips doesn’t seem an unreasonable expectation.

Lindsay took care of us today for our party and we really enjoyed her service! We came in for taco Tuesday and happy hour! $3.50 for tacos (excluding the Mahi mahi) and a $1 extra for the shrimp! They had $4 Mexican beers & $8 house margs & sangrias! The drinks were great and honestly the food was even better. Personally, I enjoyed the chicken taco but the pork taco was fantastic. They smoke the pork themselves in house! Would definitely love to come back for more. Food was very flavorful. No reservations available on Tuesday but they take reservations every other day they’re closed on Sundays but I believe they’re open 11 AM to 9 PM

Update a year later - our experience here has been consistently good. We had tacos tonight - shrimp and steak. Both excellent and fresh. Very glad we tried out Mekenita. It's a cute place and nicely decorated. Has a welcoming feel. Menu has a good selection of the traditional dishes you'd expect, along with some different dishes. Our food was good and our drinks were delicious. You don't get chips n salsa like most Mexican restaurants though! Price point was reasonable and our server was friendly Parking lot is very tight though. We had a good time at Mekenita.

Good food, but not how I perceive authentic Mexican cuisine. The food seemed to conform a bit to American-Mexican style. The smoked pork tacos are AMAZING!!!!!! They put a pretty decent amount of meat on it too. The citrus chicken tacos are good but I feel like they skimped on the red onions as I only got 4 red onions for my entire 3 tacos. The chicken was cooked to perfection, very flavorful and moist; not dried out like you would get at other places. The hot sauce is very vinegar forward. The steak burrito was hefty, flavorful but a bit on the salty side. And their black bean rolls are delicious! It did not need the sauce that came with it. I think $10 for a kids quesadilla is a little expensive and it didn’t really fill my 4 year old, but he did like it. All in all, I think dining in would be a better option than take out because we missed the excitement of the food presentation!
