I enjoyed the mix of theory and practice in the Beginners Meditation course. Being able to apply the meditation techniques we had learnt about made it really easy to understand and remember them. The weekly follow-up notes for each class were a great way to reinforce our learning and will be very handy to keep for future reference. Matt created a relaxed, friendly and safe atmosphere which encouraged us to ask questions and seek clarification when needed. Out of curiosity and with my mental well-being in mind I decided to take the 'Meditation and Mindfulness for Beginners' course. I'm glad I did. Six weeks of restful meditation and relaxation in a peaceful, accepting and inclusive environment absolutely floated by. Matt the instructor was a pleasure to listen to, with insightful advice and his obvious lived experience of the subject. I found his methods very engaging, inclusive, supportive and highly practical for everyday situations. It's now up to me to make use of it all. Highly recommend.
I completed Melbourne Meditation Centre's Teacher Training Retreat in April 2024, and it was a truly transformative experience. The course was expansive and practical, immersing us in various ideas and philosophies without claiming that one approach is superior to another. This open-mindedness made the learning process incredibly enriching. Matt carefully planned out the timetable on retreat. No day felt like it was too much information to take in, yet each day was SO full of learnings. Our group often wanted to extend the classes because we were so engaged with the content Matt was sharing. It was super interactive and I felt like Matt valued our thoughts and opinions, rather than a typical teacher/student classroom dynamic. The coursework was also thoughtfully designed, with a clear purpose for every component. I didn't feel as though any task was merely a tick-a-box exercise. We had access to a wide range of resources, including books, articles, videos, and audio materials, all of which have left me feeling well-equipped to share the practice of meditation and continue on my journey of learning and growing. Throughout the training, I felt supported yet challenged to give things a go and dive right in. This balance was crucial in building my confidence and skills. Since completing the training, I've landed my first teaching role! Matt has been incredibly supportive and his guidance and care have been so appreciated.
