I adore this bookshop and often shops here. It’s always been a delight and it represents the rich arts/design atmosphere in Melbourne. However, as I was standing in the front counter to drop a 90$ sale, One of the staff stared at me blankly as I said “ hi how are you” and stayed silent with a puzzled look. The younger staff handled my sale instead. It made me uncomfortable and sad to say I have to find somewhere else to shop - just a shame when you want to support local bookstores.

My favourite bookstore in Melbourne for new books, Metropolis has a highly curated selection of both fiction and non-fiction, especially in philosophy/theory, architecture and design, esoteric/occult, and music and film. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and one can spend a long time browsing comfortably. The shop website is quite good and updated regularly.

The absolute best bookshop I've ever been to in terms of range and stocking almost exclusively high quality, intriguing content. I purchased an incredible book on Dungeon Synth, something I've been seeking all throughout Melbourne to no avail, until now!

Very cool and funky bookstore, with a lovely owner. Love your glasses - and the convo about the “no taking photos” sign ◡̈
