I didn’t realise buying jewellery came with a side of disappointment, but here we are. Walked in expecting sparkle, left with regret (and not the shiny kind). The customer service was so cold I briefly wondered if I’d accidentally entered a freezer display. Asked a simple question and got a response that felt like I’d just interrupted something far more important—like staring into space. Overall, 10/10 if you’re looking to feel mildly judged. Would I come back? Only if I suddenly develop a passion for poor service.

The chequered flags pendant is super cute but it's pretty tiny in real life compared to how it's presented on the website. Opted to collect in-store at Bourke Street Mall boutique. The store was well presented but service was a bit meh, both sales assistants sitting at the back of the store and I had to approach them rather than being greeting. I’m not really an in-store shopper as prefer online shopping with delivery but as I was visiting Melbourne for the Grand Prix opted to grab it since I was already in the area. The click and collect option on the website is easy to follow and the item was ready for collection in less than 2hrs which is handy 🏁 Not sure if this is authorised F1 merch but it is cute. The race cars are a tad overpriced though 🏎️

Went to the store to get a click and collect and to get previously purchased jewellery polished and the sales rep yelled at me for only telling her about the second job after she came back from getting my click and collect order. She says “why didn’t you tell me before” as she had to go back upstairs which was done by taking the lift not even walking. How should I have known that she would have to go upstairs again and isn’t that her job in the first place? All the rest of the staff heard her because she was quite loud and no one said anything. I felt that I was in this situation due racism when I looked around all the Caucasian customers were being treated with respect. I didn’t even get a smile or a thank you the whole time I was there from her. She was annoyed to do her job and provide good customer service and I was so nice to her the whole time. Micheal Hill needs to do some serious staff training. So disappointing.

I just had one of the most infuriating, unprofessional, and downright unacceptable customer service experiences at the Bourke Street store with Chris, who claimed to be the store manager. I bought a ring from Michael Hill at the Werribee store — a ring with small ruby stones — and three stones fell out within only 2–3 months. Completely unbelievable for a supposedly reputable brand. I went to the Bourke Street store because it’s close to work, expecting a straightforward warranty discussion. Instead, Chris barely looked at the ring before running his finger across it for two seconds and immediately declaring, with absolute confidence, “This won’t be covered under warranty,” because apparently this was “wear and tear.” Less than six months of wear now counts as wear and tear for Michael Hill? That alone is disappointing, but what made the situation truly appalling was the attitude and dismissiveness that followed. When I expressed how stunned and disappointed I was that Michael Hill doesn’t seem to stand behind its own craftsmanship, Chris became defensive, rude, and completely uninterested in helping. Rather than listening or offering any real explanation, he instantly shifted blame onto me — suggesting I wore the ring too often or mishandled it. Not once did he show empathy, professionalism, or even basic courtesy. When I told him it felt like the store didn’t care at all about customer experience, he responded in a threatening, confrontational tone: “If we didn’t, we’d be having a very different conversation.” That remark alone shows exactly how little respect this store has for customers. I left the store feeling dismissed, shocked, and genuinely threatened — the complete opposite of what any customer should feel when seeking help. The customer service was not just poor; it was absolutely disgraceful, and I had no choice but to leave and hope the Werribee store shows the level of professionalism and understanding that Bourke Street clearly lacks. DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY IN THIS STORE. THEY DONT CARE!
