I recently moved to the Fairmount area and have just completed 30 classes at muse and I could not more highly recommend this place! The studio is incredibly welcoming and inviting the moment you walk in. This is not a cookie cutter gym at all; the instructors build each class and make it their own. You can see the hard work each instructor puts in o each class. Dejah and Kelly’s grit classes are my favorite. They challenge you each class making you feel so accomplished! Additionally, Gina's pilates class is great, at 6AM, it is always packed. Great place!
Muse is truly one of the best yoga studios I have ever practiced at. Maggie does an incredible job running the studio behind the scenes, and every instructor is kind, encouraging, and welcoming. The instructors really pay attention and make sure you are doing poses safely and correctly, which makes a huge difference and helps prevent injury. You can tell they genuinely care about supporting your growth and helping you feel confident in your practice. I also love having so many different types of classes all in one place, like hot yoga, yoga sculpt, and Pilates. Highly recommend supporting this wonderful, woman-owned small business!
Overall, I really enjoy my practice at Muse. The classes are physically challenging and mentally engaging. The studio is clean and I love the heated classes. There are a mix of class styles and teachers; I've pretty much enjoyed every classes I've been to. My true rating is 4.5/5 but Google doesn't do half stars, so I rounding down for two reasons: 1. The cancellation guidelines are unusually strict: You must cancel eight (8) hours before class. You lose the class or are charged $10 (if you have unlimited package) if you do not give 8 hour notice. There should be a cancellation notice requirement, but that offers grace to clients and acknowledges that life is unexpected. I like going to the 7:10 pm Zen Class (the latest class offered.) If I had to cancel, I'd need to by 12:10 pm as to not get charged. I still have more than five hours of my work day left by that point. So much can happen in five hours, let alone eight. If life unfolds in unpredictable ways, and it turns out that going to yoga isn't the best thing for me to do that day, then I don't think I should have the financial stress of doing what is best for me. Although I don't want to be charged $10 for cancelling, I can see how not charging people with unlimited packages could lead to them abusing the system. However, I think this charge is complete unfair with the current cancellation notice time. Additionally, if someone buys an individual class ($35, which isn't cheap!) they end up forfeiting it if they do not give a eight hour notice. It makes sense for a no call no show, but even if a new student gave a six hour notice, they lose out on their money? That is still plenty of time to have their spot filled. If it does get filled, then Muse is profiting doubly. 2. There are no classes after 4:30 pm on Fridays, 11:30 am on Saturdays, and 10:00 am on Sundays. During the week, Muse offers a lot of different classes and various times. Compared to the weekdays, weekends are when people have more flexibility and can decompress from the week. I don't understand why they don't have a class after 5:00 pm on Fridays, when most people don't get off till 5:00 pm. I think it would be really nice to have a class that people could go to after work on Fridays. Sunday is also a day for resetting and preparing for the week ahead, I think it is a missed opportunity that they don't have a Sunday night class. I would love to see more variations in time. In conclusion, the workouts are great, but I think Muse could do more to work with peoples' schedules.
Muse is such a great place! They’ve created a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone, no matter your experience level. I love the variety of classes — both yoga and fitness — and there are options that really work for every schedule and ability. The instructors are fantastic and genuinely care about helping you get what you need out of each class. Highly recommend Muse to anyone looking for a place to workout!
