Nephesh Pilates has been transformative for my health and recovery! As a physical therapist, I appreciate safe, effective movement. After completing outpatient PT for my own hip injury, I needed something that supported my whole body. The team at Nephesh Pilates has delivered exactly that. The instructors are highly skilled and attentive, focusing on proper form, core strength, and resistance-based exercises that are essential for bone health—especially during perimenopause. At 54 years of age, I am walking taller, feeling stronger and am more flexible with better overall movement and core control. I feel confident that I’m preventing future injuries while supporting long-term wellness. Guided practice in the Contrology classes is very helpful, the instructors are invested in each client’s individual progress. Sessions are personalized, focusing on good technique and mindful movement. The group Pilates Mat classes are also a favorite. The team at Nephesh is very welcoming. They promote a body positive and calming atmosphere. I honestly look forward to every session. I highly recommend Nephesh Pilates, it has been an absolute game-changer for me!
I started coming here over 3 years ago after trying everything else, and now I'm obsessed with Classical Pilates. My body is stronger, more balanced, and pain-free, and I consider it a quiet flex when I hear from younger friends in their 20s about how they're hurting. I knew from the very first phone call and the required private sessions that this place was something special. I love both the mat classes and Contrology studio sessions. Elisha, Mari, and Kodie (and all of the instructors) are all so knowledgeable, caring, and attentive. When I first came in, my right shoulder was significantly lower than my left since I relied heavily on my dominant side for everything. That evened out within the first several months, and the chronic neck and shoulder pain I used to have from being a corporate worker is non-existent so long as I am consistent with my practice. I also remember that I was a bit intimidated by all of the equipment at first. In hindsight, there wasn't anything to worry about because the instructors here help with all of that, and other members are all friendly and encouraging too. There were definitely exercises like Rolling Like a Ball and Teaser which felt impossible at first, but I can do those now. After 3+ years, there's always a new challenge though (ahem, Teaser on the Reformer). It's very rewarding :)
To say I adore Nephesh Pilates would be an understatement. I’ve been attending Nephesh for about a year and my transformation physically and mentally has been noticeable. I notice this change in almost all areas of my life, but most notably in my swimming. My form. endurance and times have all gotten so much better. The one on one support and individualized plan are the cornerstones of the studio’s philosophy. However, aside from the fantastic staff and one on one support and guidance at Nephesh the community of other members has been a huge factor in my growth. I want to work out because I get to check in with other members who have now become friends and cheer them on! I would highly recommend Nephesh!
My decision to join Nephesh Pilates last January changed my life for the better in so many ways, and that is due to the caring, considerate, and cool way the practice is taught there. I feared embarking on such a program because my coordination has never been good, and I have never excelled at physical activity; but Elisha Grow and her teachers have let me find my way. As someone who felt shame in the past due to my lack of athletic ability, I have to say that I especially appreciate the warm and mellow vibe that always exists at Nephesh Pilates. It’s a calm refuge devoid of judgement that has allowed me to steadily improve. Class sizes are small enough to allow for just the right amount of individual attention. Each newcomer is assigned a teacher to get started. Kodie, who is my teacher, has found the perfect balance between supporting me and challenging me while always taking care to make sure I don’t injure myself. No personal trainer or coach has ever brought out the best in me the way she has this past year. My main goal was to make my posture better, and that has happened. I have remained committed to going to class 3-4 times a week. I have been encouraged at every turn, while the staff gently pushed me towards more advanced exercises when I was ready. Fellow students who are more advanced in their Pilates practices offer me consistent inspiration. Elisha’s decades of experience and her kind manner draw like-minded participants: clients and teachers. I feel better after every morning session, and I have more energy for the rest of the day! I was encouraged to join a Pilates studio by my physical therapist and chose this one because it happens to be very close to where I live, but having spent almost a year going to Nephesh Pilates and hearing others talk about the alternatives available, I feel that I lucked into the BEST available anywhere!
I have been practicing Pilates at Nephesh since April of 2016. What initially began as rehab for sciatica became a daily practice. No two classes are alike. There are reformer classes, classes using the Pilates tower and/or chair, mat Pilates not to mention the use of props to make the practice easier or more challenging depending on the level of the class. The teachers at Nephesh are knowledgeable, attentive, and offer a sense of encouragement. They are able to infuse a sense of humor and lightheartedness to the practice which keeps me coming back!
