If you want to read or tan your body, lawn chair recliners are provided. One of the highlights of this pool, for me and possibly for most people, is the hot jacuzzi spa located at the far end of the pool. After my workout, to be able to heat my body up again was special and unique. I sat and simmered under a bright afternoon sun for 15 minutes, and loved it.
Went at 10:45am on a Saturday, not knowing there was a designated time for kids to swim, which was noon. I see a family (mother, father, baby) playing and splashing in the water. When I pointed this out to the girl at the counter I asked why they were allowed in while my family wasn't. Her exact response was "They have special permission from my higher up". So it's nice to know someone that works here I guess. I had to explain to my children that those people were getting special treatment, and we weren't allowed in. We only had a specific amount of time to spend swimming as a family since my partner was leaving on a plane that day. Won't be going back.
We love it, been taking our son for swim lessons and it's such a clean facility, compared to other oakland public rec centers. 4 kids per teacher, or 3 depends. They use Saline vs. Chlorine which is much better on our frequent swimmer. Its also not so crowded. I would totally recommed it!
