When the antique cabinet I purchased for my living room arrived I quickly realized why I had gotten it at such a good price- it was very very dirty, the wood looked dried out and dull, and the hardware was pretty dingy. I was thinking the piece needed a complete refinishing, but the folks at Northrop's told me that she probably just needed a deep cleaning and a good oiling. They took the piece in quickly and were very communicative about their process and recommendations (and patient with my questions too!). They removed many years of grime and made the lovely recommendation of adding felt lining to the drawers. They polished up the hardware so that you can actually see it now, and added an oil to the wood that makes it look so much more nourished and alive. The grain and the beautiful hand feel of the piece now shine. And to top it off they were able to get it back to me quickly- just in time for Christmas. I love that they brought this beautiful piece back to life, while still respecting her nearly 200 years! See attached for a couple of before and one after pic!
We had two pieced that needed from TLC and Northrop's did an AMAZING job. The first one was an antique Heywood Wakefield dining set (pictured). We have cats, dogs, and kids running around so we decided to have it refinished, leave the wood natural, and add a clear coat to protect it. We also had all of the chairs re-upholstered with Sunbrella fabric and it looks nearly identical to the original fabric and is so easy to clean (you can even bleach it). The second is an old filing cabinet that came to us via a thrift shop that we use as a credenza for our entryway. It was pretty beat up from wear, age, etc. Northrop's did an amazing job cleaning it up (the brass handles too) and refinishing/restoring the top. It doesn't even look like the same piece of furniture. We will definitely be back for more refinishing projects.
Northrop did an incredible job with my great grandparent’s early 1900s furniture. I’ve never had a need to restore antique furniture before so I didn’t know what to expect and Northrop exceeded expectations! It truly looks incredible and better than brand new.
I grew up with this dining room table, and inherited it after my dad and mom passed. It was in desperate need of refinishing, cleaning, and repair (the extensions no longer fit flush together due to old bent metal mechanisms). The craftspeople at Northrop’s put their literal blood sweat and tears into giving me back my childhood memories of eating dinner and playing board games on this table with my family. It’s an absolute stunner now thanks to their fine work. I highly recommend their team for any furniture restoration needs you have.
We are very impressed with the quality of work and the great customer service! We took our 30 year old maple butcher block table in for staining/painting and are so happy with the results. It looks like a brand new table. The owners are very kind and professional, highly recommended!!
