Absolutely incredible experience here. My physical therapist, Mat has been absolutely amazing very professional and easy to talk to Claire at the front desk is super helpful and very organized. Super convenient location in the middle of Oakland and they also have parking that they validate. What else could you ask for? If I could give six stars, I would highly recommend Novacare in Oakland for all of your physical therapy needs!

In January I jumped from the top of a climbing wall and broke two bones in my ankle and tore my syndesmotic ligament (High Ankle). I was misdiagnosed by 3 different specialists. For at least 6 weeks post injury, Matt at Novacare was the only person I saw who diagnosed me correctly within 5 minutes, listened to my issues, and informed me of what needed to be done to get healthy again. Since getting surgery in April, Matt put together a plan that follows along the timeline of what the surgeons prefer. Along with this, he has uniquely personalized different types of strength training and mobility exercises that have me currently about 1 month ahead of schedule. I am confident that a large portion of the reason why is because of Matt's steady pace of thoughtful exercises that directly pertain to my daily and weekly goals. He even had me doing some BFR (blood flow restriction therapy) to improve my muscle atrophy in my leg, even when I couldn't walk on my leg. This was extremely beneficial. Although he may juggle multiple patients at one time, he is capable of it, remaining aware of your changes in health day to day. Matt is ridiculously kind and knowledgeable and wants you to be informed on what's going on in your body, so that you can eventually have control over the health of it. He is admittedly a nerd about this stuff, and that's what you want from your physical therapist. It's very cool to speak with him about what happens and why, and how to improve it. I would recommend Matt and his team to anyone with any type of injury, and I won't be looking for another PT for any future injuries.

My experience at NovaCare - Oakland has been fantastic. The atmosphere is friendly, professional and clean. Working with Matt & Claire is great. Matt has worked with me on my recovery from a tibia plateau fracture, from a fall downhill skiing. My fracture was surgically repaired. Matt used massaging of the scar and area around it, kinesio tape and scraping to really improve the mobility of my knee. The exercises prescribed for me helped to improve my range of motion, strength, comfort and confidence in using my leg again. Matt also worked with me to manage the additional swelling in my leg due to lymphedema. Slowly but surely I know I will get back to the activities that I love: biking and downhill skiing.

Matthew Shedlock has pulled me out of many orthopedic medical problems with his careful listening and skilled physical therapy. These problems have ranged from a badly sprained ankle, a pulled hip joint, several broken vertebrae, increasing symptoms of scoliosis, and now a painful arthritic knee (work in progress.(.
