I can't express enough how amazing obedient paws is! Adam is beyond incredible. I first came across obedient paws 6 or 7 years ago when I needed help training my blue nose pit duke. I was extremely nervous leaving my baby for the 2 week boarding school. When I first arrived and met Adam my nervous wall instantly came down. The in person on-site lessons make you involved and he takes the time to not just train your pup but also teaches you how as well. After boarding school my duke came back a completely different "obedient " dog. And to this day 7 years later still listens and follows the commands Adam taught him. We then recently decided to get another pit bull and I told my husband I wasn't taking our Shelby to anyone else but obedient paws. Just like duke, Shelby came home a well trained different dog. Im pretty sure she likes Adam more than me lol. At one point when I would come by she wouldn't even give me the time of day she was so focused on listening to Adam. My husband who wasn't a fan of paying for training was finally able to meet Adam during shelbys training and even agreed that he was happy we found him and how amazing he was. Adam has an incredible facility with ample indoor and outdoor space. He is super friendly and communicates often throughout the entire training period. I truly cannot recommend a better trainer than Adam and obedient paws. We are so thankful to have found him all those years ago and he will always be part of our pups lives and part of how they have grown to be such amazing loving trained dogs!!!
I can’t say enough great things about Obedient Paws and Adam. Our dog had basic training as a puppy, but over the years (he’s now 4), he became increasingly anxious, reactive, and aggressive towards other dogs and strangers. It reached a point where we feared he might bite someone, forcing us to consider rehoming him. The situation caused us a great deal of anxiety, especially when having contractors in our home or encountering other dogs, and we had a couple of close calls. After extensive research, we chose Obedient Paws for several reasons: 1. Adam’s Expertise: From our first conversation, it was evident that Adam understood our struggles and could help us and our dog. We also needed training, and Adam was prepared to guide us through the process. 2. Top-notch Facilities: I’ve never seen a boarding facility as clean as Obedient Paws. They maintain impeccable hygiene, cleaning up immediately if a dog uses the restroom. The place doesn’t smell or feel like a typical boarding facility; you only know dogs are there because of the crates, leashes, and collars. 3. 4-Week Bootcamp: We knew our dog needed to be fully immersed in his training, and the bootcamp was perfect for that. Although it was hard to drop him off, we knew this was best for him, given his attachment to us. 4. Involvement in the Process: Adam kept us deeply involved. We worked with our dog, Jif, and Adam daily, receiving constant updates and photos. We even did off-site training together at local beaches and parks. I am forever grateful to Adam and his team. This is a lifelong journey, and Adam created a strong foundation for us to build on. We’ve learned to be better dog owners, establish boundaries, and keep our dog and others safe. We now enjoy walks without pulling or aggressive behavior towards others, and our dog enjoys off-leash time in the yard or at the beach. Our dog is living a fuller, healthier life thanks to the training at Obedient Paws. Highly recommend!
Bottom line up front: I brought my dog Lele in to train with Adam and his team for a 4-week boot camp, and it was by far the most important investment I’ve made in my dog ever. The transformation I saw over the month was remarkable, and the training has stuck like glue since being home. I’d 100% recommend bringing your dog that needs training in to Obedient Paws. Our experience: I’ve had my dog Lele for about 8 months when I brought her in for the boot camp, and she was just over 1 year old at the time. She had some prior training and “knew” the basic commands, but she was far from reliable and had total impulse control issues. No real aggression, but she’s a high energy pup and would excitedly jump up on people, barge through doors, lunge towards dogs to play, chase after squirrels… she had very little sense of boundaries or rules. I saw immediate improvements in her obedience over the first week of training. She was listening to “leave it” when treats fell on the ground, she was jumping up on me, she’d sit the first time I told her to, etc. She was happy as a clam to be able to hang out with dogs all day, and she would always happily run up to the trainers with her tail wagging. While the new environment was stressful (new people, new place, new dogs, AND RULES), she got used to the rhythm of training and the e-collar over time. By week 3 she was a new dog, and I felt she was trained well enough to take her home at that point. I’m so glad I let her ride it out through the 4th week, because that gave her enough opportunity to really solidify her off leash recall and test her in public settings. One thing I found incredibly awesome was how often I got to see her and train. Adam encouraged showing up a minimum twice per week, but I’d come over as much as my work schedule allowed. This helped in a few ways: 1) I missed my pup, so I just wanted to see her. 2) I got very comfortable with the training techniques, and Lele got comfortable with me being on that same page. I’ve had her home for a few weeks now, and it’s been nothing but a pleasure. She actually LISTENS! Now that she reliably listens, I’m able to trust her with more freedom and she’s happier than ever. Ultimately she’s still a teen pup, so the training hasn’t stopped, and we’re still working on refining little things. The difference is I’m equipped and prepared to work with her on my own because she has such an awesome baseline. Thank you Adam for taking great care of Lele! I know where I’ll be bringing her if I need to drop her off for daycare or otherwise.
Night and day! We brought Buster in for boarding training after two dog fights. He was stubborn and did as he pleased. He would ignore commands; guard the property, bed, treats, us; many dominance issues. He is so different now!!! He listens and respects my space. I am more firm with him and don’t treat him as a fragile puppy, so he doesn’t feel the need to walk over me. Adam and his team are great! Daycare is also a breeze!
Our dog Scout is a Coonhound-Black Lab mix that we adopted from a shelter and has always been quite the escape artist. He has found the flaw in every fence and the weak link on any leash. He would never come when called, even inside our own house. After countless runaways and embarrassments, we decided to send him to Obedient Paws for recall training specifically. The workers there were very kind, knowledgeable, and listened to our needs. We came to as many training days as we could to make sure we were learning the most for our own benefit. Over the weeks of training, I watched Scout turn into a different dog. I really thought he would never change and that’s just who he is as a hound dog with a high prey drive. But Obedient Paws completely proved me wrong. Walking him is so pleasant now and we continue our recall training in the yard. He listens so well and is always looking to us for direction/permission. It’s like he knows he is safe now and doesn’t have to lunge at cars or howl at other dogs. We even used the training we have learned on our younger puppy and she is also changing into a better pup! We are so thankful for the trainers who not only trained our dog, but loved him throughout the process. Thank you again!
