This school is horrible. Discourages student artistic expression and ignores bullying. Not to mention overpriced.
Update: after my tantrum, they let me out of the airtight contract. My child likes the classes, so ultimately I'd give them another chance. I will be more upfront with my timeframe next time. "Don't be fooled by their claim "stay for as long as you like." In order to freeze or cancel your membership it "requires a pre-payment" of one month. So even if you canceled on your first day, you're locked into at least two months. Very misleading!"
Great art school in Essex county. Teachers are dedicated and projects are focused. They have a variety of classes for all grades.
My son attended camp here in August. We had a fantastic experience from the very start. I had to reschedule due to conflicting activities and the staff could not have been more helpful in accommodating our needs. My son was met with warm and inviting teachers that provided high level art instruction all week long. His final outcome came home with all his planning and sketching. I could truly see how he was taught to develop his project throughout the week, leaning into experimentation and process. The work is large and awesome and hangs framed on his bedroom wall today. I will be back at this location for sure. Perhaps even for myself in their adult classes as I love making art too!
One River School has offered a wonderful, accepting, creative environment for my daughter to learn and explore. The teachers are warm, fun, and encouraging and have helped build her confidence as an artist and a person. She especially loves the manga and digital manga classes - spending time with other tweens-teens who love manga and anime as much as she does is the highlight of her week.

Inspiring creativity through innovative art classes and gallery experiences for all ages.
