My husband and I went on a date night to Origen a few months ago-we loved the atmosphere. The food was delicious, too. Tonight, we went to Origen again and despite us having a large group, the service was great. The queso fundido was amazing (my favorite), but the rustic guacamole was also very good, too. The smokey mac and cheese was delicious (our boys loved it, too). The Sonoran Tacos were yummy as well! Our boys also loved that we could eat on the porch and then play in the grass field behind the restaurant after dinner. We highly recommend Origen!

The atmosphere of this place is really nice and we were very excited to try. We celebrated my wife’s birthday here and decided to splurge. We ordered the most expensive thing on the menu a (40oz tomahawk steak and a lobster tail) $180 along with some sides. We figured as this was the featured menu item it would be cooked to perfection. We ordered the steak “medium” and it came out beyond rare, it was literally cold to the touch in the middle. If I’d have said “rare” id still have been disappointed but I would have thought “well that’s just how they do it”. The waiter came over and we expressed concerns and he looked at it in awe as if to agree that it is for sure NOT medium. The offer was to take the steak; which comes out pre cut kind you and put it back on the grill. We agreed as it seemed that was our only option. But we were incredibly dissatisfied with the steak that returned although it came back medium it lost all of its luster. We assumed there would be an offer to comp our sides or some sort of discount for the inconvenience but none of that transpired. We were pretty disappointed in the overall experience after that. The photo featured below is just a single piece of the steak that was left behind while the rest went back on the grill. Which is pretty evident of how rare it was as there is no pink, just red.

It was our first time in Origen and we have always been wanting to try it. It was a sudden date and good thing we thought of going there. Ambience is wow! The vibe was great and service was excellent from our server, Angel. The food? It was the best taco fillet with a side of the bone marrow which I have been craving to try. We had the Salmon Carpaccio too and all the flavors of the salmon, truffle, arugula, capers, and butter blew me away. Will definitely be back and will try the other items in the menu!

Last night’s date night reminded me why food is memory, romance, and craftsmanship all wrapped into one. 🍸✨ At Origin Restaurant in Gilbert, the evening unfolded with intention and atmosphere. I ordered the December 2nd cocktail—elegant, balanced, and quietly bold—while my husband chose the Hibiscus Mule, vibrant and refreshingly smooth. As if the night couldn’t get better, a woman singing live love songs filled the room, setting a romantic tone that elevated the entire experience. We shared the octopus, queso fundido, and Ceviche Origen—and this is where Origin truly separates itself. The octopus was extraordinary: tender, expertly charred, and easily top 5 octopus dishes I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The ceviche was unforgettable, with a sauce that was layered, bright, and beautifully restrained. The queso fundido was rich yet refined, made for sharing and savoring. Origin delivers more than a meal—it creates a moment. Between the live music, exceptional cocktails, and masterfully executed dishes, this is a must-visit for date night and one of Gilbert’s standout dining destinations. ⭐️ Highly recommend 🍽️ Already planning our return

My wife and I decided to try out Origen finally! Both times we’ve been now we haven’t had much of a wait, if any, to get a table. The staff have been polite and outgoing, both servers we’ve had were nice, accommodating and lively. The food has been excellent! We’ve had the guacamole app, the grilled brie, the quesabirrias tacos, the sonoran tacos and the tacos de filet which have all been great! Only thing I wasn’t ready for is the grilled brie comes with bread that is quite hard and dry. The brie was still delicious! Friday night they had a live artist, not sure if this is every weekend but it was awesome nonetheless! The atmosphere here was great! Will definitely be adding this to our rotation of date night restaurants!
