It was such a joy with Gioia (Joya)! We are a little bit of foodies & love trying new places around town. Osteria Panevino doesn't disappoint! Beautiful restaurant and lovely waitstaff from front to back! Food AMAZING! From bread to dessert. Will definitely be back, already have my next dinner in mind. So excited to try the Salmon next visit! Possibly our new go tooverall! !
Atmosphere is decent, food is barely edible. Ordered Calamari and Chicken parmesan. Calamari was soggy, Chicken cutlet was not fresh . After trying Quartino in Chicago, its hard to pass this resturant as Italian. Just edible and fills ur stomach. Nothing to celebrate.
My wife and I went in here for date night. BEST Italian food we've had outside of Italy in a long time. The server recommend the Gnocchi and the Penne with Wild Boar Sausage, so so good! Gioia was our server and she was so great! If you guys are there in the fall you have to get the Pumpkin Espresso Martini, one of the best drinks ever. Will absolutely be coming back here every time we're downtown.
My wife and I had a fabulous experience here this evening. The food was wonderful, authentic and there was plenty of it. Service was attentive but nicely paced. We had exactly what we needed but were not rushed at all. My wife had the seafood fettuccine special and I did the veal osimbuco. Both were outstanding. The table bread was delicious. After dinner we had berries and gelato for dessert. I think the gelato was served slightly under temperature but was otherwise excellent. They make an outstanding espresso. I love the architecture of the place. It’s got a very nice feel similar to what I would expect in a good neighborhood restaurant in Rome.
First, this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The menu is also really good. The waitress / manager Goya gave us (party of 6) outstanding service on busy comic-con weekend. The bread that you start with was absolutely amazing. Soft, crispy on the crust, and super soft inside. The butter paired with it was soft and perfectly complimented the bread. I wish I took a photo of it. What better way to see the excellence of the chef than a few appetizers. So I tried the tuna tartar and it was big and delicious. 6 of us shared it. We loved the MELENZANE FARCITE eggplant stuffed with ricotta and spinach, marinara sauce and fresh mozzarela, baked. FUNGHI RIPIENI mushroom caps, lump crab meat, peppers, bread crumbs, shallots, fresh herbs. This is a smaller appetizer and not really a good option for 6 people, but definitely 2 people. RISOTTO PORTOFINO Creamy aborio rice shrimp asparagus and marscäpone cheese. (Best I've ever had) COZZE E VONGOĻE INUMIDO mussels and clams sauteed with cherry tomatoes, garlic white wine sauce served with crostini. FORMAGGI & SALUMI (for two) chef's selection of cheese and meats board pears, honey, candied walnuts. Every appetizer was smacking!! But the stuffed eggplant is a must try! If you love seafood the tuna tartar was my favorite! We had 2 more dishes, one was a pasta, another was a clam mussels with shrimp in a pink vodka sauce. It was a special and I don't remember the name. The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars is to put a 3.75% surcharge, then tax the total on top of that charge is straight jacking..
