Do not trust. Scratched the crystal while waiting for new battery. Knew something was wrong when they ran out of the room to continue replacing battery. It was a movado watch so not the most uncommon watch ever. Ruined my day because they ruined my girlfriends watch, ipso facto Also their silver prices are way off market. $80 spot, $50 buy price.
Quick Edit: I am not an AI bot nor is my review fake. Labeling it as such does not make it so. Your response only validates my experience, buyer beware, Paul Young Jewelers business practices could be perceived as deceitful. Original Review: Beware of bait and switch??? My experience with Paul Young felt shifty. I was looking to fix my mother's vintage watch and create matching bracelets for my sister and I for the holidays. Another watch repair person wanted $250 to repair it. Paul Young said he could put in a completely different mechanism instead of trying to repair the original one for $25. When all was said and done, he went to charge me close to $250. He stated he could not repair the band and tried to sell me a cheap one. I ended up paying $150 - significantly more than what he quoted. And this was talked down from $250 since I did not take the cheap band (500% mark up). In regard to the bracelets - I had massive sticker shock when I went to pick them up. I had him melt some 24K yellow gold to make 2 charms and I picked out 2 small, very simple white gold (14K) bracelet chains for the charms. Keep in mind, he never really answered how much it was going cost, so when it came out to close to $900 - I was very surprised, and not in a good way. I do accept a fair amount of responsibility. I should have pushed more on the cost before agreeing to the work. The charms came out fine, but there was a significant amount of gold left which (enough to make another 2 charms), I can't say for sure, but I felt like he tried to keep it. It was only after I left the store that I realized he did not include the remaining gold. The work was fine on both the charms and the watch but I will not go back.
Have a couple of necklaces, which are my favorites, and haven't be able to wear them as they needed some repairs. Took them to Paul Jewelers and he did an amazing job!!! Reasonable prices and great workmanship !! Highly recommend him ,
Great experience! My girlfriend bought a gold fortuna goddess of fortune vintage pendant. I bought a vintage silver snake ring. Ring resized in 15 minutes.
I have using Paul Young for many many years. So reputable, reliable, great repairs and purchases at reasonable prices. He always remembers me & reminds me if I have forgotten to pick up a repair. I have purchased, charms and bracelets all of high quality. It’s a wonderful store with a small town friendliness in a big city. I highly recommend a stop in. Don’t be fooled by the store front, it’s high quality merchandise!
