Really cool place in a prime location. Our waitress was extremely nice and the atmosphere here was very comfortable. Our table shared apps like the arancini, zucchini fritti, and calamari. All very good except the calamari, it was just OK. Not much flavor and there were several tough pieces. I ordered the calabrese pizza which had really good flavor. However, the dough was pretty thick and chewy. I confirmed with the waitress if it was neopolitan style and she said yes - but it was poorly executed. I tried someone else’s ravioli, and it was pretty blah. Texture could’ve improved. The flavor of the sauces were lacking. The wine we shared at the table was excellent though. I believe it was the Chianti.
While exploring the area we came across this place and decided to give it a try and it didn’t disappoint. The pastas were 10/10 and so was the pizza our server was nice I’ll definitely be going back when I visit Pittsburgh again.
Needed a place for lunch and glad we found this place! The food was excellent and fresh, same with the wine and beer. We enjoyed the pizza, pasta limone, and tiramisu. Wait staff was friendly and greeted us quickly. Will definitely be back!
Awesome! I came here for lunch and was not disappointed. I was greeted and seated immediately and waitress was prompt. Sarah was courteous and offered a suggestion of pizza along with a discription of the in house specialties. I ordered one of their newest pizzas (a white sauce base) which was delightful. I finished it with a cafe latte made with Nicholas Coffee Beans! I can't wait to return and bring my wife! Highly recommended.
Pizzaiolo Primo in Downtown Pittsburgh surprised me in some ways and disappointed me in others. I am really pleased to say that the food and drinks were delicious! You can tell that everything is prepared fresh, with care and precision. They put an effort into using high quality ingredients. The homemade pasta is such a treat! I had the cacio e pepe with grilled chicken. It was just divine. And their pizza is cooked in a stone oven, which just creates a great crust and a great flavor. I was disappointed in the service. Our waitress was flighty and kind of rushed us. Our reservation was one of the last of the day before closing and I definitely felt pressure to order and eat quickly because the staff wanted to leave. I could hear the staff loudly talking about looking forward to leaving and I can't help but assume that was intentional. Our reservation afforded us plenty of time to dine at a comfortable pace. Perhaps they should adjust their policy and not allow reservations after a certain time or even better, maybe the staff needs to be reminded that if someone comes in 45 to 60 minutes before close then that is more than enough time for them to be treated to a comfortable, normally paced meal.
