From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a fantastic experience and the food exceeded our expectations. We had some pizzas which were beautiful with homemade bases which were pure Italiana. The food was fantastic and the staff were attentive and friendly, we definitely recommend this to you all so give it a go and try it out....
Came here for my birthday last night and has a really great experience. There were two of us and we got sat right where I wanted to, looking out at the river and city. The way they've put all the two seaters at the front facing towards the city is really great as this plays well for dates. Vibes were high. Staff were amazing, really friendly and attended to me as soon as I walked up. We also asked for advice with wine and pasta choices and the waiter (girl w short blonde hair) was soooo good, a true pro. Wine was a smash. We both got pasta and they were both good but we both agreed could have done with a little salt, but still v tasty. I just would have preferred more flavour. Would have given 5 stars otherwise because everything else was really great. Would definitely recommend coming here for a date.
I’ve been going to Popolo frequently for the past three years. Last night, I went in with my friend to celebrate her birthday. I called in advance to order a dessert with a candle, and the maître d’ was more than happy to accommodate. Our waitress was lovely, and everyone who came to our table was so nice. The food was divine, the wine was excellent, and the view was absolutely beautiful. What a superb evening—it will definitely be a memorable one for me.
Went here recently for a birthday celebration and had a lovely experience overall. We were greeted by a friendly and attentive waiter who made great recommendations (I wish I’d caught his name!). One of my friends had just found out she was pregnant, so we took a bit longer than usual deciding what to order, but we never once felt rushed or uncomfortable. The food was delicious; the arancini balls were a standout and the handmade pasta was excellent, though a little on the pricier side. Still, the quality made it worth it. As the evening got busier, it became clear our waiter was handling most of the tables, and while he did a fantastic job, it was tricky to get the attention of other staff when he was occupied at another table when we wanted dessert. It might be worth balancing the workload a bit more across the team. The venue itself has a beautiful view, though I do think some seats don’t quite take full advantage of it. Parking at South Bank is paid, but if you’re savvy, you might be able to find street parking nearby and enjoy a short walk. Overall, I’d definitely come back if I’m on that side of the river again. Great food, good service, and a lovely atmosphere; I’ll be recommending it to friends for quality pasta with a view.
My bestie and I came to Popolo to try something new at Southbank. First of all the restaurant itself is beautiful but one small detail that might be petty is the entry. Its very small and whilst waiting to be sat, it can be awkward squeezing past people exiting. We were seated outside which was delightful as we got a beautiful view of the river and city. Our server made us feel welcome and was very attentive. We ordered the arancini to start, ravioli and Ragu and a side of zucchini. I also ordered the Lychee spritz - this was absolutely delicious! The food was ok, arancini tasted great and like you would expect for an arancini to taste. My friend said her ravioli was a bit bland and to be honest, the pappardelle tasted like the one you buy from the fresh section at woolies or coles 😢 the ragu itself was flavourful but I felt like it was also a bit dry maybe because of the pappardelle. It didn’t have that ‘homemade’ taste at all and tasted quite rubbery like the store bought ‘fettuccini’. Overall the experience was nice, just the food was a bit disappointing. Thank you for a wonderful night anyway. We really enjoyed the ambience.
