Easily takes the spot as the best bakery I’ve been to in & around Milwaukee. Got multiple items to try out and everything was delicious and moist. I don’t even like olives but still loved the focaccia bread I got for someone else. Will definitely be back to try other items
Amazing pastries, amazing team! Amy is super talented and she puts her heart and soul into her pastries. Everything I got was insanely delicious. Don’t sleep on her savory items! The space was super cute and cozy. You can tell thought was put into front of house. A plus is seeing the kitchen in motion! You don’t want to miss these treats.
First time here. Have been wanting to come since they opened and were reviewed in the paper. Came on a Sunday morning before noon, and there was a line pretty much out the door. It didn't take very long to get to the counter. As you wait, you get to check out all the amazing looking pastries and bakery items that they offer that day. There are a few small tables inside, or you can sit outside at some picnic tables that are in the closed off section of the street. Got a friendly greeting from the cashier and help with the order. We ended up with a couple of items to eat right away: Ginger Apple Scone and Cardamom Knot. We also got a Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie to take home. We would have liked to get a couple of hot teas, but all they offer is coffee. They have water available, so we had that instead. After a couple of quick minutes, our box with our order was ready. We sat at a table by the window. It's close quarters, so it's very likely that you'll be hearing (and possibly joining) other conversations. The Ginger Apple Scone was amazing. It has a thin sugar glaze, bits of ginger and apple, and a nice texture. The Cardamom Knot was a disappointment. It's made with brioche and was just not very substantial in taste or texture. Glad I tried it but would choose something else next time. Definitely a place that I would stop in again. Hot water with tea bags would be much appreciated.
First time trying Poppy Bakery and we will definitely be back! When we arrived, line was out the door but for good reason, as the pastries we tried were out of this world! Line moved quickly and we were in and out in no time, but either way, definitely worth the wait. We tried the cinnamon roll, coffee cake, apple ginger scone and brown butter miso cookie, all of which were delicious! Definitely already planning our return visit 🍪
We have come here almost every single weekend since they have opened because it is that good! The baked goods are always incredibly fresh and delicious. I particularly like that they have some rotating seasonal flavors so that there's always something new to try. My personal favorite is their cinnamon roll, they somehow managed to make a cinnamon roll where everybody is like eating the very center of the roll. This is an absolute must try if you're in the Milwaukee area!
