I love Pure Barre but I was disappointed with the overall experience at this studio. Not worth the price tag for unlimited access. I would recommend going to a more updated studio for cozier-full Pure Barre experience. I started Barre in ‘18 at the River Oaks Studio then ‘22 at the Lubbock Studio (unlimited). I had an unlimited membership at this studio starting July ‘24 cancelling a couple months ago after dissatisfaction with the facility. I came in with high hopes from other barre studios and this was also close to my house. The reasons I rated this studio (2/5) are as follows: (1) Offstreet parking - only 10ish spots on a good day, 1 is handicap, 1 you have to drive around yellow safety posts. If the class is “full” you will have to parallel park in the neighborhood if you can avoid the trash cans and zoned parking. (2) Limited workout space - starts to feel crowded at 15 people where other studios comfortably fit 25 with 28 being capacity. A little too quaint of a space for me. (3) Small storefront - limited workout clothes as options. Previous studio had sitting lounge along with food merchandise such as water bottles, protein shakes or protein bars. This studio offers a coffee machine & water fountain (?). (4) More male presence than other studios which is fine but only few were for the ~girls~ The others I think were bfs/husbands or sus single men who were staring a lot when they thought no one noticed which got uncomfortable. (5) Not reflective of the Houston / Heights demographic (limited diversity). They tend to use POC for promo or photo ops. (6) On my first 10 challenge I was told I could choose my socks. I also saw people before and after me select theirs from a bin. When I completed mine the Studio Instructor laughed to herself and said she knew the perfect socks for me. She returned with a full grin and tacky red/green watermelon socks. I’m afro-latina it just felt like a micro-aggression. I think which speaks to the whole vibe of the studio. Yes there were other socks available to choose from and no I was not given a choice even after asking for something else (i was a bit shocked) (7) Everyone seems to know everyone which is normally okay but with limited space it’s an inconvenience. Groups of like 3-5 would overtake a corner or section limiting spots that would otherwise be open if each attended individually. If you attend on your own make sure to get there early as groups of people will not budge or create space. I love pure barre & would still continue but the studio - vibes are off. Hopefully a modern take with updated facilities opens in the area again.
All the coaches are all so sweet and welcoming! Every class is always a challenge and I love that! I would recommend Pure Barre The Heights to anyone wanting to improve themselves overall. I look forward to those 50 minutes every week!
I love Pure Barre! The classes are challenging in the best way, and the instructors are so attentive and encouraging. I always feel supported and welcomed, its like I’m part of a community. Everyone is kind and thoughtful, which makes showing up to each class something I look forward to.
I love it here but don’t come as often as I like because Define isn’t offered enough for me. Looking at the June calendar there’s only one Sunday Define for example. The Saturday ones are very early and book up quickly because there’s usually only one Define class offered all weekend. Because of this my credits usually go unused. I get classic is the bread and butter but this is just my opinion.
Pure Barre in the Heights is amazing! I’ve enjoyed each teacher that I’ve had and regardless of the class I get a good workout. I’ve already noticed a change in 8 classes and am more toned. The community is warm, open, and inclusive. Instructors are helpful with new joiners. They continue to check in on me which is incredibly considerate. Highly recommend!
