I had a very disappointing experience at this PureGym. When I arrived today, I found that my locker had been opened and all of my belongings were removed without any prior warning or visible signage about the “no overnight storage” rule. As a member, I genuinely did not know about this policy. I would like to say that the staff at this branch were polite and kind, and I appreciate their attitude. However, this situation should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially as the belongings inside the locker had real monetary value, and some items also held strong sentimental value that cannot be replaced. A staff member went to check the situation for me and told me that someone would contact me regarding my belongings, but no one ever did. When I checked the lost property, there was nothing there, and I received no update from any staff afterwards. I was left completely unsure of where my things had gone or who had handled them. After this incident, I noticed from other reviews and comments that other members have experienced similar situations, which is concerning and suggests this is not an isolated issue. I joined this gym because it is convenient and because I wanted to start taking better care of my health. Unfortunately, this experience has made me feel very unsafe and uncomfortable using the lockers, as the handling of members’ belongings lacked transparency and proper follow-up. It has affected me much more than expected and has had a real impact on my mental health. Clearer communication, visible signage, and timely updates from staff would prevent situations like this and help members feel secure and respected. At this point, I do not feel comfortable returning to this gym. I only hope that my belongings can be returned, and that no one else has to go through the same experience. Update 22/01/2026: I visited the Market Street branch again today and had the chance to speak directly with the manager. The on-site team were incredibly polite, helpful, and professional — they assisted me immediately and handled the situation with care. I want to thank the staff for their support; the in-branch service was excellent. My initial review reflected the distress I felt due to the communication gap in the customer service response I received online. However, the staff at this branch demonstrated the standard of member care I truly appreciate. I hope the wider customer service team can align with the same clarity and professionalism shown in the branch today. Thank you to the Market Street team for resolving the matter so respectfully.
The worst experience ever! At first 3 day pass should be for free via voucher, but somehow I was still charged. Second no information about that gym is closed! Not on website, not on the gym doe! Third where is the info about I need my own locker?!? FAQ has only that I can USE lockers and thats it! So I paid for 3 day pass and not once could use it! THANK YOU for nothing!
Amazing gym! The equipment is modern, clean, and well-maintained. The atmosphere is motivating, and the staff are always friendly and ready to help with advice. Great music, clean changing rooms, and flexible opening hours — everything you need for a quality workout. Highly recommend it to anyone, whether you’re a beginner or experienced!
This gym is affordable at £17 per month, which is its main advantage, but the lack of cleanliness and general maintenance is hard to overlook. The women’s workout area on the top floor is repeatedly promoted as a highlight of the gym, yet it is consistently neglected. There are no spray bottles or paper towels available to wipe down equipment, the mirrors are filthy, and weights and machines are often left in disarray. To make matters worse, there is no Wi-Fi connection in that area, which is particularly frustrating as it is the only part of the gym where the signal drops completely. I have never once seen anyone cleaning or tidying the space, and unfortunately, it shows. If you can afford to pay a bit more elsewhere, I would not recommend this gym.
This gym has so much potential, but it’s completely let down by the way it’s run. Cleanliness: By far the biggest issue. The place is filthy, easily one of the dirtiest gyms I’ve ever used. I’ve seen everything from half eaten chicken pies and beer cans left in the showers to bloody socks, food wrappers, and general litter scattered around. The mirrors are streaked and stained, equipment is left everywhere, and in the months I’ve been a member I haven’t once seen a cleaner or staff member giving the place proper attention. Equipment: The machines and weights themselves are fine for the price (£17/month), and you can get a decent workout in if you’re patient. The real problem is organisation, nothing is put back in place, so half the session is wasted searching for dumbbells or cleaning things before use. Changing Rooms & Facilities: The changing rooms are genuinely disgusting. Toilets stink, showers are broken (most give barely a trickle, the few that work are scalding hot) and smell like urine. The new lockers already have broken locks and bent doors. Todays new addition was the huge hole in the men’s changing room wall. The hairdryers are so weak you’d be quicker letting your hair dry naturally, literally 2-3 business days to dry anything! Overall: It’s such a shame because the gym’s location and basic set-up could make it a brilliant space. Instead, it’s completely neglected and poorly managed. Unless cleanliness and maintenance improve dramatically, I can’t recommend it unless you're in and out to change at work/home.
