We hired Rainbow as our month-of coordinator and couldn’t have been happier! First off, she was incredibly helpful right from our first meeting (well before the month of) in making suggestions for vendors, setting timelines, etc. We are both busy professionals, and arguably needed a full-on wedding planner but Rainbow helped with so much more than we expected that we were able have the perfect wedding! Her experience showed as we got closer to the date as she had previously worked with our venue, photographers, and other vendors and so was able to seamlessly coordinate everything. On the day off, her and her team (thanks Jing!) helped keep us on time, set up the venue perfectly, and took care of everything so that my bride and I were able to fully relax and enjoy the day with our guests! For reference, we had a 115 person wedding at Canoe. We would wholeheartedly recommend Rainbow and her team. Thanks, Aaron and Sybille!
Update: The response below did not directly address any of the concerns we had raised in the review. Instead, it focused on non-issues such as the scope of work and timelines. What a disappointing response. Working with Rainbow Chan Weddings is what made us emotional during the wedding planning process. This was the sole reason why we wanted to downgrade Rainbow to month-of planning and eventually discontinue her services entirely, even though it meant forfeiting our deposit. When we ended the partnership, Rainbow did not seem interested in any feedback. She suddenly became enthusiastic and proactive only after the review was posted. She also offered a partial refund, describing it “as a gesture of goodwill,” although it was conditional on removing this review. This further reinforces our experience with Rainbow Chan Weddings as inauthentic, defensive, and unable to take any real accountability. -------- We hired Rainbow Chan Weddings for partial planning. During our initial consultation, Rainbow made a great first impression as she came across as knowledgeable and experienced. We expected a planner who would help us refine our vision and make the process stress-free. Rainbow assisted with venue searches, site visits, and quotes, but we soon realized she lacked active listening and flexibility. She often focused on one preference at a time, even though we emphasized that we were open-minded. She also limited her search strictly to our initial budget, even after we made it clear we were willing to expand it if the venue was right. Feedback was often met with defensiveness rather than understanding, which left us feeling unheard. We eventually reduced our contract to month-of planning, but communication only worsened. She did not reach out until several days into the month. Additionally, her tone felt impatient and unreceptive, which stood in stark contrast to all our other vendors who were attentive and supportive. When we insisted on a quick call, she told us to “book a meeting,” which felt dismissive and unhelpful. Ultimately, we decided to end the partnership before our wedding. Her lack of communication skills, flexibility, and customer service was causing more stress than relief. We were deeply disappointed, as we had hoped for a supportive and stress-free experience from a professional planner.
Working with Rainbow as our month of coordinator was such a blessing for our big day. She's the reason why I was able to be a chill bride that everyone said I was. My sister used her for her wedding and recommended, whatever I spend on, it should be on a coordinator and she worked with Rainbow! To all my friends, I'd give the same advice, Rainbow is the way to go! She is detail oriented and super organized and was on top of it the month before and even earlier than that. She did all the communications between my vendors to ensure everyone knew where they needed to be the day of! She create the timelines and made sure everyone was on track. I just followed her schedule the day of with no other worries in my head. She was also my emcee for reception and she made it so fun for my family and friends and kept the energy up! For someone looking for someone that can speak both Cantonese and English, she is your gal!
Rainbow and her team are phenomenal. I did not stress once during the day. She allowed me to be a guest and enjoy my own wedding. The day flowed seamlessly. I had a wedding with a very large bridal party (17!) and Rainbow was so organized - we were even ahead of schedule which never happens! She is always one step ahead and anticipates my every move. I could not recommend Rainbow enough. If you are starting to look into your wedding, this is your sign that you must book her!
Rainbow was amazing to work with. She is incredibly detailed, efficient, organized, and thinks of all the little details you would easily forget! We had Rainbow for month-of planning, but she helped prepare us with plenty of resources in the months leading up to the wedding. She was responsive and available for any questions any time they came up. She managed all correspondence with vendors leading up to the wedding and made updates to our timeline to make sure things were spaced out and properly timed. Our wedding day went incredibly smoothly and every detail was set out perfectly at both our wedding and reception. We highly recommend Rainbow and her team!
