We visited Rainbow Lodge on Sunday at 7pm for a party of five to celebrate my niece’s 21st birthday, and everything was perfect from start to finish. We hadn’t been back since 2018, and it was even better than we remembered. We ordered a variety of dishes — the elk, antelope, bison, a classic beef ribeye, the rainbow trout, and the chicken breast — and every plate was exceptional. The flavors were rich, beautifully prepared, and perfectly cooked. We ended the evening with a nightcap and their incredible bread pudding, the perfect finish to an unforgettable meal. A memorable night for a memorable date. We will definitely be back.
Texan hunters come eat here!!! This quaint 100 year old historic log cabin is the dream you have been having about the ultimate wild game and seafood restaurant. The Rainbow Lodge has great food And also features two gardens, and beehives! Yes i said beehives! Who does that??? The kitchen garden, located by the restaurant's kitchen door, grows their own fresh herbs and tomatoes - you know things the best chefs would want to pick and use immediately. picked Across the street is a second garden with raised beds, which grows anything from blackberries to peppers and kale to beets. I heard the honey gets harvested twice a year in June and October, and are featured in dishes seasonally. They even sell jars of the honey by the front door. We started with “the board” it was a sampler charcuterie board with blueberry venison sausage, smoked duck other meats, vegetables, cheeses, quail eggs and fresh sourdough bread. Oh yes the marinated cherry tomatoes were magnificent! Then on to the wild game, there is a dish on the menu called "Taste of the Wild" which features three samples of different kinds of meat. The elk, venison and quail were cooked to perfection. I noticed the owner/manager actually read the reviews so here is my tough part of the review for you. It was The veggies. I wanted to give you 5 stars overall but again the veggies… Your veggies need to be refined. My broccolini tough, it was grill burnt and impossible to cut with my fork i had to resort to my Steak knife! The side of Brussels sprouts needed something… like crumbled bacon & drizzle of reduced basalmic glaze or just a classic spritz of lemon juice. The vegetables needed more. The meats were délicieux!!! Oh my! Yes. Maybe they just over shadowed the greens. I love the ambiance for sure! We will be back to try different sides.
Decent food with interesting atmosphere & decor. Nice party rooms that can hold 13 people. Scalloped potatoes were my favorite & the asparagus. The fish and meats were good, but a bit too salty for me. I’d like a bit more sprinkles or fresh greens on the plate to cut down on saltiness.
Rustic country vibe. Beautiful scenery with simple decor. Great for casual dinner with a fancy flare. Food was great. Mashed potatoes had too much goat cheese but still ok. Our waiter was talkative but extremely personable and kind. Can't remember his name but his wife loves horses. I'll definitely be back.
Valet parking. Top tier service. Comfortable atmosphere. Delicious fare: nice presentation & portion size. The food was the star. The game was cooked to perfection, so tender. The fish was well seasoned & the sauce & spinach were very good. Our least favorite bite of the night with the cheddar grits that came with the quail appetizer & the wild game entrée. A bit more seasoning would have helped. The highlight of the meal was the dessert. Hands down, the best dessert I've ever had. The atmosphere was elevated but not stuffy. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary. The card from the staff was a sweet touch. Highly recommend. Appetizer: CRISPY TEXAS QUAIL BITES Entrée 1: WILD GAME MIXED GRILL (venison, elk loin, & quail) Entrée 2: RAINBOW TROUT WITH LUMP BLUE CRAB & PECAN BROWN BUTTER Dessert: WARM CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING
