I just finished visiting the store in hopes to purchase cold-weather boots for my up north trip in a few weeks. I looked up trekking Boots online and saw REI had The ones I wanted. When I went to the store, I saw their selection was slim and not the boots that I had seen online that they carried. When I told the sales rep what I needed , She sounded short and responded with “ This is South Texas if you want those boots, you can go buy them up north” She could’ve easily directed me to REI’s website, which I’m sure they have. But with that customer service, I will never buy anything from this establishment!

Great store ! First time in , bought some trekking poles as a Christmas gift to my mom for an upcoming Alaska trip ! Staff was so friendly and helpful. Will be going back for the rest of my needs for trip ! Yes in pricey side on clothing but honestly you won’t be finding this stuff for these kind of trips in our other stores . Thought it was priced the way it should be for this type of gear. If you are an out door adventure type store to go to here in San Antonio !

Was my first time in an REI, and the lovely folks at the San Antonio store were fantastic at giving me the run down! Landon gave me a solid foundation when it came to hiking in the area and selecting my big three (closed cell foam pads are still awesome). Victoria was super helpful navigating the clothes section and selecting the right sun hoodie. Finally, Anna worked with me to fully understand camping cuisine and how to enhance my meals on the trail (those spicy peppers are AMAZING). All in all, I would highly recommend visiting this REI if you’re in the area!

Longtime REI Member – Year-to-Date Feedback As a longtime REI member, I’ve shopped in multiple locations across the country. While living in Oregon, the Bridgeport Mall REI in Tualatin and their Beaverton location consistently set a high standard! Organized, well-merchandised, and staffed by people who know the products. Since moving back to San Antonio last month, I visited the local REI yesterday. Sadly, my experience really fell short. The apparel section was disorganized: brands and sizes mixed together, mismatched hanger tags, and identical items scattered around the store. After 30 minutes trying to find two lightweight shirts, I left without buying anything. This was really a dramatic contrast to the REI standard I’ve come to know and what the REI San Antonio used to hold to. I truly hope this store receives the attention it needs. San Antonio customers deserve the same REI experience found in other locations.
