Golden confit duck and silky bone marrow piled onto country-style bread, crowned with a perfectly poached duck egg that spills like velvet. Earthy chanterelles, sweet green peas, manchego shavings, and a creamy tarragon sauce tie it all together, finished with herb-salted crumble and fresh mizuna shoots. Rich, comforting, and just refined enough to feel like a slow celebration rather than a meal. #RestaurantBrunchLePasseCompose #Montreal
Food and indoor decor was great! Love their mushroom saucing in the brunch items. Only downside is different servers kept coming back for our orders, when we specifically asked for more time to translate the menu; and when I asked about my order that took way longer than the others, the waitress gave me an annoyed look without words.
I came here after seeing Le Passé Composé heavily recommended on social media and marketed as one of Montreal’s best brunch spots. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. Our group all ordered the foie gras. I initially wanted to order the pancakes with maple syrup, nuts, and sugar, but they were already sold out. While the waitresses were polite and attentive, the food itself was disappointing. The foie gras portion was extremely small and felt more like a piece of bread topped with a poached egg than a true foie gras dish. On top of that, the food arrived almost cold. Even though the wait time was reasonable, the quality-to-price ratio is simply not there. I paid $57 (including tip) for the foie gras and an iced matcha latte, which I would not recommend at all. it was about 90% milk and 10% matcha, and once mixed, it tasted like flavorless green milk. Overall, I would suggest saving your trip and going to another brunch spot, such as Allô Mon Coco. While the food may be less “exotic,” the quality AND quantity is noticeably better for the exact same price or even less.
I went on a Saturday for brunch around 10am and was able to get a table for 2 easily but around 10:40, the host was notifying people that they could not fit them in until much later. The food was AMAZING! I ordered the croque monsieur and it was perfection. My partner ordered the rustic poached egg and it was also amazing. Our waitress was very nice but the service was a little slow but it allowed us to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere a little bit longer! I will definitely be back when I visit Montreal again.
I came for brunch and had Asparagus Awakening (poached on brioche w grilled asparagus, veggie salad, roasted tomatoes w parsley and hollandaise w siphon, pickled onions and black olive salt) and it was delicious. My wife enjoyed her Mediterranean Grilled Cheese and my friends liked their Bagel Passé Composé and Tartine Marinière. I finished off with an Affogato which was one of my favourites I’ve had. The menu is a bit on the pricier side but not unwarranted given the more curated menu options and nice atmosphere. Overall a really solid more upscale brunch spot!
