This is a really great school. With plenty of drive time, backing and maneuvering instruction with instructors that care. I’ve heard stories about other schools that mention little to no instruction/ training and little to no driving on the roads. This school isn’t one of those schools. Best CDL training program ever! Shout out to the recruiters, job placement personnel, Aaron, and all of the instructors at Roadmaster, and of course Terry.
Great way to get started toward a career with a class A CDL. Knowledgable and passionate instructors with millions of miles of experience. Each instructor has their own way of explaining things and teaching which is very helpful for ensuring all types of learners are covered. I recommend you complete your prerequisites (CLP and ELDT) before showing up!
All instructors were great. They have there own unique way of educating students based on there past experiences. So long as you paid attention, you’re almost guaranteed too never fail. All the instructors wanted nothing but the best for us when it came to learning. Grateful to have met the instructors and people along the journey and the brighter future I have for myself as a current graduate.
Buckle in, cuz this isn't a review that can be done in just a few words. Trucking has been my life's goal my whole life. I had signed up with Swift initially, but things happened to make that not a thing. I called Roadmasters, and the woman that I talked to (Amy) was amazing and made me feel like a friend while she was being very thorough and realistic in answering all my questions. She's gone above and beyond for me. Now for the instructors. We have Headmaster Aaron, who is amazing at running the school and comes out to the pad when students need extra help. Then we have Tom. He's a guy that you have to pay close attention to his facial expressions and the tone in his voice to hear his soft spot when students learn what he just taught them, or when they pass their test and get their CDL. I call him coach, cuz he will get on u and have u repeat steps over and over till u get it. But he doesn't give up. Then we have Buzz. That man will put a smile on your face and it doesn't matter what mood you are in, you're gonna have a good day. His energy is the kind that is infectious. Craig is a newer instructor so I haven't really had much interaction with him, but for the time I did, I've noticed that he is exceptionally detail- oriented and will point out the littlest things to learn from. Next is Kim, who is also a certified tester. She is very thorough and efficient, calm and patient. Sweet as pie with some thick skin. She teaches you things out on the road as a trucker that you'd never think twice about in your 4-wheeler. Steve, who is my tester. I haven't trained at all under him since he is the one testing me in two days. But the other students that have trained with him have nothing bad to say. He's very by-the-book and does not allow room for error. He pushes for perfection at all times. Last but not least by any means is our Lead instructor, Denny. That man would rather hang up his keys than to give up on anyone struggling. He's intelligent, calm, and has a way of teaching that just makes it click. You can't fail with him, and he's a face and voice that I will carry til my last drive. To say I've grown attached to these instructors and to the school is an understatement. School is over before you know it, in the blink of an eye, so enjoy it like your senior year in high school. There isn't a single person out there teaching you that doesn't have years of experience driving on 18 wheels themselves. Many schools have teachers and instructors that have never had a CDL from my understanding, so how could they practice what they preach or teach you things they've never learned? I can't praise this school enough, and if I got paid to be there I'd never leave.
It's great place if you need to get your hours to re instate you cdl. But as a new driver I don't recommend, you have around 40 days that equals around 160 hours.10 hours of driving on the road 40 hours backing the truck that leaves 110 hours watching your classmates back/drive so on so forth. Great instructors even mentors. But at the end of the day I spent 7500 dollars to watch someone back a truck up for 110 hours. Other schools are a fraction of the cost and you learn a whole lot more.
