George Rodrigue is known for his Blue Dog paintings. We learned the blue dog is the alter ego of his deceased pet. He also painted several other styles, many of which are on display at his Royal Street Gallery. We enjoy stopping by and browsing the beautiful original works in the gallery.

Gallery of the famous “Blue Dog”. You can also walk through here just to see some of the artists original paintings in person. The staff were very friendly and even though we weren’t planning to buy anything, were very happy to take the time to explain to use the history behind the “Blue Dog”. They showed us some interesting historical facts in books they have out of display. Well worth a visit!

Great place to see original painings of Rodrigue blue dogs and his other stuff. Really nice and the reception is friendly enough that you can walk in and enjoy his painting without the pressure of buying one- which was great for me as his fan.
