I've been here before to grab a late breakfast or lunch at work but this last visit was not confidence inspiring. I understand the whole idea is a coop of sustainable, high quality ingredients but my last pass through the hot food section was an utter disappointment. The herb chicken and glazed ham ways dry, no flavor, and the dressing in the pasta salad had bitterness to it. The non-vegan mashed potatoes tasted off as well. Like there was an unnecessary tumeric or cinnamon flavot in it. For the price they're asking for the options should knock it out of the park. Not to mention the express lane isn't express. Keep in mind there are many state facilities surrounding this place and our lunch time is valuable. Phillip, the guy manning the express lane, didn't seem to grasp this urgency. This neighborhood needs something more like a Nugget Supermarket, sure it's corporate but at least the food is edible.
it stinks! Surely, they are NOT following sanitation standards. IT STINKS! You never smell this at Nugget, Safeway, corti bros, etc Also, why are your meat department people not wearing beard hairnets? What's is going on at the meat department? There's water coming out of under fridges and it smells so bad. You can clearly see it and the smell is so nasty. What's dying in there? It smells so bad. I am at the point that I will file a formal complaint with the Sacramento health department. Don't you guys sanitize the meat and seafood refrigerators? USE BLEACH! I have an internal source that says they DO NOT change the ice at the seafood case. They just keep adding more ice on top of the old ice every morning. They say you can clearly see pieces of fish, shrimp, blood, and they just add more ice on top of that. Also, they can see pieces of decaying meat inside the “clean fridges” every morning. C'mmon you guys! This is already a freaking expensive store to shop at. You guys can do sooo much better. Surely they store management team does not care about this.
I shop here as an alternative to Whole Foods because it is convenient but also operates as a cooperative. The quality and variety of products are superior and local! Lots of good finds and different deals if you become a member. I usually get more back at the end of the year as a benefit. The health and beauty section is comparable to Sprouts. Check them out if you get a chance! I recommend parking in the garage rather than the small lot in front to avoid traffic.
Took a walk from my Midtown Airbnb to enjoy this wonderful cooperative experience. I was able to get fresh steelhead trout and garlic from Gilroy...I think. Think this would be an ideal place just to grab lunch or dinner as they have a number of pre-made options. It resembles Whole Foods in so many ways. I put some pictures from my walk of nearby landmarks including some lovely street art at Winn Park and the former home of the Sacramento Bee.
I stopped by here while in the neighborhood and was really impressed. The Sacramento Natural Foods Coop on R Street is very clean, well organized, and stocked with a wide variety of natural and organic foods. I especially love their bulk section because there is so much to choose from. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. There is plenty of parking right out front and also additional parking in the garage. It’s a great place to shop if you’re into healthy, natural foods.
