A coworker of mine told me about this winery so since I have never been to one I decided to come as my birthday outing with family. Our waitress was Kellie and she was very good. She suggested food and drinks to us. It is safe to say we will be back.
My review is based on the food and atmosphere. Came here with a group and we had a preselected menu. The flatbread and chips for the table were good. My Ceasars salad was not good. I didn't like the dressing which I am assuming was homemade. The dressing had a metallic flavor but no real flavor. Too acidic. Now on to my entree. I got the roasted chicken which was well seasoned but a bit dry. The sweet potatoes that came with the chicken were under cooked and the skin still on. Flavor though was good. We ended the meal with dessert. I went with the apple cobbler. This was disappointing. It was just rolled oats and warm pie filling. Service was good. If you want a lovely atmosphere and good wine this place is for you but for food I would pass.
Atmosphere perfect. 1st time there. Couldn't wait to try for a celebratory meal. Arrived and was greeted by a not welcoming or kind manager overseeing the hostesses. Since we never have been we asked about sitting outside as there was an abundance of empty picnic and dining tables and we didn't know how it worked. Honestly, the manager was unkind and jerkish in not helping us with our questions but just repeating how many reservations they have and we don't. No advice, suggestions or welcoming info. I wanted to leave but we drove 40 min. We mentioned our want to sit outside to our server but anything open by the window was out of his section (available) but we stayed in his section not to mess up his seating, Our server Ben was nice although we never received the crispy polenta we ordered but was charged for it and had to have it removed after we realized. The other artsy manager Chris swung by at the end just to randomly say hello and check on our meal. He was much nicer, personable and a better vibe all around, First impression at the door may have ruined my want to return. May drive to Sharrott instead. Always kind, Welcoming and helpful no matter how many reservations they have-hooked solid. There were so many outside tables and inside tables open that it didn't even make sense of how we were addressed at the welcome as I watched them stay open our complete stay. Zucchini and grilled cheese really good. Cheddar chips meh. Left and manager still at hostess stand never smiling or saying thank you or good-bye. Bad vibe and unnecessary/unprofessional for such a nice establishment. The other manager Chris definitely should be greeting and helping guests. When spending $200 on a meal, first time visiting and looking forward to it...call by phone to get information because on site is not helpful and you will wind up settling. It was such a gorgeous night and we weren't given any option to wait or help with what we hoped for. **Notice all their review responses are copied and pasted (the same) and other feedback untouched. Says something as well.
Sunday was my first time visiting Saddlehill Winery, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I came with my best friend and my younger sister, and from the moment we pulled in, the place made a strong impression. The larger parking lot was clean, spacious, and even had accessible handicap spots. There is also a smaller lot closer to the entrance, but that was already filled by the time we arrived. We had reservations for a wine tasting, and our host Shelbi took excellent care of us. She was personable, knowledgeable, and full of energy. Her passion for wine really showed, and she made our experience feel both fun and informative. On top of that, she’s an Eagles fan and yes, the winery has a big screen TV where I was able to catch some of the game while sipping on different wines. That was a vibe in itself. (Side note we won! Go Birds!! 🦅) The atmosphere inside was spotless and welcoming, with plenty of merchandise and a wide variety of wines to choose from. We tried meads, reds, and rosés, and other selections, and every pour showcased the quality of their winemaking. The food paired beautifully, fresh, flavorful, and served with great presentation. The flatbread pizza as an appetizer, I ordered the steak with their delicious mashed potatoes and for dessert we shared a fruit bowl which was light yet satisfying, and the wines complemented them perfectly. If I had one critique, it would be that a charcuterie board option with the wine tastings would have been ideal. It would tie the experience together even more. Also, the bar area only had three chairs, which felt a bit limiting given how beautiful the space is, it deserves to host more guests comfortably for wine tasting. Outside of that, I give Saddlehill Winery a solid five stars. Between the excellent staff, the clean and stylish atmosphere, the variety of wines, and the fresh food, it’s an experience worth coming back for. I also love that they host different events like line dancing, yoga, and Pilates, and they offer memberships for those who want to be part of the community. Saddlehill has a little something for everyone, and I can’t wait to return.
We visited Saddlehill Winery with friends and family and had a truly pleasant time — the atmosphere is beautiful, the food is delicious, and most of the staff were incredibly welcoming. However, our experience was unfortunately marred by an incident involving one of the managers, Olga. Unaware of a no-smoking policy in a certain area, we lit a cigarette, and her reaction was unexpectedly harsh and unprofessional. She reprimanded us in a very negative tone, aggressively removed and stomped on some decorative stones we had placed, and asked us to leave the area in a rude and unpleasant manner. It was a disappointing moment that deeply affected an otherwise lovely visit. That said, we still want to highlight the quality of the food, the peaceful ambiance, and the kindness of the rest of the staff. We hope Saddlehill Winery can provide better training on how to handle situations like this — with respect, clarity, and professionalism — especially when guests make honest mistakes.
